  1. aliens can cause fires too , less you had LOS on the whole map the turn you killed the last alien you cant be certain there is no smoke
  2. that would be sweet. maybe have a timeline to em have a hidden movment screen progress relativly with your tech level and the soldiers getting more and more confident and bad ass.
  3. my favorite part is in bold. also to op's comment on fraxis making an hd og xcom for 5 $ hahahahahaha. fraxis wont get outta bed for 5$. DLC for xcom eu that added extra wigs and colors to you soldiers was 5 bucks... 3 more missions was$15. I doubt they copy+Paste for less than 5 bucks.
  4. after seeing a few chains of posts from the two, me starting to thinks fetus mcgee and mad bomber are the same person trying to start troll flames. both names post one after another on ever post with the same writing style usually backing each other up. maybe they are twins?
  5. do you know how expensive said 'chris-owned server' would be for him? I believe he has had his drop box locked to him for excessive bandwith when people have downloaded it from him so he has to use it for game uploads to desura only. (atleast how i understand it, Im just a mechanical engineer who draws things in cad, dont know all the programmer mumbojumbo and how it works)
  6. Silly Giovanni... devs cant mod their own game that would break the space time continuum. And if you break that... xenoauts might have already been released or hasent been thought up yet, then your picture starts to disappear in photos like back to the future.
  7. There is defiantly still weird ness happening with ai. But it is clearly a step in the right direction, and the stability i'd argue is more important right now. -Shared sights are still funky. If an alien is outside the ship and spots your guys every alien inside the crashed ufo (I assume most of the time usually I havent uncovered it yet, but this is wat it sounds like during the hidden movement screen) start trying to shoot at my men but since they are inside the ufo they start shooting up the walls, counsels and themselves. -The weird stand up, spin around and crouch still happens with aliens and civies / npc humans. -Running at my squadies (instead of running away like they did before)but not shooting and leaving itself in the middle of the open close to my guys to get mowed down. also interesting to note in this scenario the alien is still trying to reserve tu's for reaction but it would feel more right if the alien in this case if he choose to shoote rather than reserve reaction tu's cause he basically charges into close combat then waited to reaction fire, and i was able to mow him down from flanks out of vision cone before he could reaction fire. -the 'aliens that spawn in ufo' still decide to sit patiently inside the ufo till i get guys within maybe 15 tiles then they all sprint out only to be mowed down by reaction fires or my next turn. These are what i've noticed in 1.5 months, 1 terror mission and a few scout missions, seen up to androns and light drones so far. Funding is hugley ramped up, I netted almost 1 mill after first month AFTER upkeeps, which was usually was barely a few hundered k last builds i played. North america changed its funding + 400k (my base was in NA) so the succesfull missions bumped funding quite a bit. cant comment on how failing a mission goes, currently the aliens feel pretty weak and balistics can still mow em down. only lost 1 soldier so far and taken a few wounds.
  8. well its still pretty easy to just roflstomp the aliens ive only taken wounds on reaction fires so far even on a terror mission with androns we rolled. androns and sebbies feel way too weak. 3-4 bullets for a sebbie 4-5 for andron less for lmg's makes it easy to roll thru most long as you got 3+ guns together. Im only just over one month in one terror few scouts ai is definatly better and moves more still some hangups like the continued desire to shoot through things/friends and they still slaughter themselves in the ship some times. but the updates to this thread have been thru one playthrough since i got home from work (gone afk and program in windowed mode) and i come and go but havent closed it yet and not a hang up thus far. havent tried sheilds since i dont know how to use em and as i said not having much trouble mowing them down with ballistics. So again repeating myself but with less fear of being too soon to tell... it feels alot more stable
  9. after first month i got 900000$ after upkeep from nations hot damn is funding kicked up.
  10. ::MIND BLOWN:: Thank you. In 18.5 it seems mission impacts hit alot harder my monthy forcast change has gone to +$300000 in 2 missions.
  11. second light scout: Cesarian only 2 aliens spawned in ship ran out once i scouted the ufo and promptly got mowed down. No hangup on briefing screen tho thats good. EDIT: In 3rd ufo, a Sebbie Light Scout, CONFIRMING SEBBIE RAN TOWARDS MY GUYS AND SHOT HURRAY \o/. Am I noticing new maps? much more map variation havent played the smae one in 3 missions that was rare for me in 18.3. Really playing well so far, seemed like it was gonna crap out and not respond but i think that was my computer not the game lol cause it picked right back up and I swear load times are as fast if not faster for ground combat. Sebillians felt really weak tho, just train rolled em dying to 2-3 rifle rounds, also maybe they should have some resistance to suppression, i would think a big reptian beast bread for combat isnt going to flinch as easily as the frail cessarians.
  12. Just finished first mission and feels like 18.3 again with stability thus far knock on wood. Although the 'auto completion' of bringing up breifing screen after killing last alien (you dont have to click end turn) was hairy for a minute... it looked like it went right to geoscape... the top title bar of the game (Playing in window mode) showed 'not responding' then it un hiccuped and brought up the mission debrief. Unlimited flares on night missions now is nice if you use em. Is the cover indicator intentionally not showing up? Cause I havent seen it in this build or 18.4 but the shot line is picking up cover okay. Aliens did run out at me from out of the ship but they would some times do that before... one in the field i felt probably should have been able to shoot at my people and he just kinda stood there and didnt turn towards me. But first cesarian light scout so i'll continue to try to take notes on the ai. Can we ever have the ability to lay out our first base.. or at least suggest the storage and radar get built in bottom left and right corners as those 2 single space buildings being moved could allow for 2 additional 2 space horizontals (lab/workshop/living.) I usually start the game building a new store room in bottom right and deconstructing the one i start with once its built. then i free up a horizontal row. Or allow us to rotate buildings and play tetris? (But I imagine that would let you optimize base space too much...)
  13. downloadign now and looking forward to it. only played alil of 18.4 due to real life limiting comp time so i got enough in to point out some bugs then shelfed it to wait for .5.
  14. if you want a very stable build that reflects prob the best we've had was 18.3 with the hotfixes. Chris stated, they are trying the archiver thinggy again (correct me if im wrong im no computer guy) and that there was a chance it might cause some problems, and as its a beta needed us to test it to find the bugs. If you dont wanna help test and bug report and play for fun I suggest the 18.3, sure 18.4 looks like it took steps backwards but thats because they tried something that eventually should improve the game once they get it massaged and working correctly. Lastly chris also stated another build would be a few days away, and i believe he said that a day or so ago, and he's well aware of the issues that were added in .4 so lets see what .5 brings.

Has anyone ever had to reload much other than a rocket launcher (single shot) maybe a sniper rifle, i know clip size is based semi realistic but i feel there should be more of a trade off for burst yea the ap cost is high, but there is really never a thought about ammo conservation. Even on terror missions maybe one guy needs to reload but usually a squad a rifle guys cna pretty much burst most times they need to shoot and thats 6 shots each before running out of ammo on burst and i'd say its rare for any one soldier to shoot that many times in most battles. ( i havent played farther base assults and such) more enemies on light scouts helps this but any game ive had thru the first few months squaddies rarely drop a clip.
  16. Is there going to be more randomization in progression of stats? With the way they currently work drives certain play styles if you know how the stats progress. TU's especially seem to have an inverse progression of what you would expect, as you gain them from moving so inherently a higher ranked squaddie can earn tu's quicker than a recruit if you make maximum moves every turn. How strength and accuracy improve make a squad full of lmg's pretty attractive as it gets you to or close to your weight limit without a backpack full of grenades and ammo. It just feels to rigid and makes it very easy to ensure you can maximize soldier progression by following a few rules.
  17. Had this once too... also have had the background screen for the debrief fail to load so your score text and soldier progression were jsut on white backgrounds.
  18. lol how do i get windowed mode to work? lol ive unchecked the box and checked it double unchecked checked it check check bloody check check, but no matter what it launches full screen...
  19. Aliens again seem to be able to see out thru interior walls of their space craft, they also seem to be able to shoot thru their interior walls, but not from interior to exterior. I failed at taking screen shots last night but will try to retake them today. but while approaching light scouts if there are aliens inside you will trigger reaction shots as you approach(doors closed) the UFO. In this case unlike before the ufo walls block the shots but its pretty sill the aliens are shooting up the insides of their craft to shoot at people out side, sure there might be sensors or something to tell them there are people out side but they just blast their own walls in vain trying to shoot you. unfortunatly this weird version of karma is fickle because on larger/multiroom craft aliens can see and shoot thru walls of their craft but you cannot. I assulted a light scout opende the door and the sibbie was back to the door of the hallway door so 4-5 tiles away. we supress him, during his turn he runs thru the hallway door which shuts behind him so hes either in the hall way or the back room of the ship. as my boys try to approach the hallway door reaction fires were triggered that shot into the door (thankfully that blocked it) or thru the walls of the hallway / compartment (did not block) and killed soldiers, i didnt have any alien icons or indication that i could see them. but they clearly reaction fired thru the walls of the ship, the door itself blocked the shots but they can still sense thru it.
  20. I had a CTD once before hiring, then another time it went thru okay... so right now i try to remmeber to save before recruiting because i havent found a pattern with it yet.
  21. Me too. More aliens on light scout is nice. They seem to be moving more was there any ai tweaks? I did have a weird problem with aliens being able to see and shoot thru walls of their space craft... this time interior walls. On scout team opens door suppress the sibbie, during his turn he runs into the hallway between the two rooms. trying to move my men to the door which is closed triggered reaction fires that came thur the walls of the hallway and killed men, made storming the door vary difficult. Also I noticed the cover indicators are no longer visible dont know if thats intended or not. Ive had two crashes but no discernible reason to what made it crash.
  22. the desura program wont auto update for prob another day just download the full game from the above link and unpack it and voila an 18.4 folder with the launcher outside the assets folder easy to see
  23. ^ probably strategic.. so he can do network updates while the main user base is sleeping.
  24. Dont worry i dont think you'll even be able to see your saved games, a build or two ago Chris made it nolonger display old saves.
