  1. Okay, first off, I got the steam version, so it's the newest version. The C4 needs a description, it's missing details in the menu when you equip the soldiers prior to missions. The description cuts off after the first line. When in the Interface (world map), the game crashes when you press [esc] as you are viewing your base related things. It's a really annoying bug I hope you guys can fix. I have a tendency to press [esc] thinking it will lead me back to world view and it always crashes the game. Another thing I noticed was a graphic bug in an urban mission. I cannot recall which one, whatever map you have attached to Europe. It's easily visible since it's right below the chopper right at the start of the mission, this is probably going to be a reoccurring notion since it's blatantly obvious. It's like half a block of graphic is just missing on a street. These are really simple bugs/overlooked things you guys can easily fix. It's not a handicap on the game, like the previous bugs back in December, god were they a nightmare. Granted, I only played a few missions thus far, I may discover more issues soon. Other than that, I have to congratulate you guys, real good job on this thus far. Graphics are competitive within the industry, if you market the game (after your bugs are fixed), you have a potential to gain a large market share and get all the veterans to buy into your game. word of mouth goes a long way, I already told a few people and showed them youtube vids, and suffice it to say, they're planning on buying the game. You guys should concentrate on digital media and televised ads to market the game. Contacting gaming websites and doing interviews about the game would be a good way to get product recognition. A DLC wouldn't be a bad idea once the money starts pouring in either, add videos in those, videos that support a good storyline goes a long way.
  2. Anyways, I get it, a million frames. Lots of work. Doesn't mean videos can't be added into the game, maybe comic strip wise with a narrator and sounds?
  3. Depends what you want changed. granted, when you have a 2-D scenery that depends heavily on 2D drawings, graphics becomes an issue. However, there is a command called copy and another one called paste. All you have to do is allign certain pieces of drawings to match with pre existing ones. The issue is frames, I get it, this game has a bounch. Would've been easier if you had one of those fancy programs that animates sprites automatically, of course that would change the game to a 3-D format. Point is, modern artwork relies heavily on 3-D, you have more ressources available to you to make the game progress faster. Guess that's something to consider next time around. I'm not sure if anything like this exists in 2-D, apart from photoshop obviously being one of the only proper tools for the job in question that I know of, making a reference to the layer option here.
  4. Animators have nothing, or almost nothing to do with coding, changing graphics and making videos is easily added into the product.
  5. Gorlom, The only issue I see is hiring new programmers to make the job go quicker is that first they have to go through all that code x_X to figure out how the game is built. Yea, I get it, it takes time to do that, at first. Once they figure it out with the help of the main programmers, the job can go faster.
  6. And before you start saying it's too much, common, get corporate loans from the government to hire animators to make videos and better graphics, (assuming the company is incorporated as a private corporation meaning no liability to the owners). Who cares if the coropration goes bust because of loans, before it does start another one and sell your current assets to it, i.e. finished product and liescence. There's ways to make a game epic, there's ways to get money, just gotta know em. You think everything in the world is perfect? Look around you, everything is a scam, I'm graduating in business school, I've already seen real business at work, you'd be surprised what people get away with. If you set your mind to it, you can do it. So the government looses a few grand, woopie dee do. you're creating jobs man, jobs!
  7. I hear two different opinions on this. One is: don't give us crazy suggestions it's close to Beta. Two is: Not finished yet. So... which is it? (trolling) I'm not complaining, I'm suggesting small changes, ones which can be easily implementable to make the game smoother. I don't know if my concerns were mentioned yet so I write what I think, ain't that the point of this section of the forum?
  8. I had an issue with hidden movement during my first terror mission. First or second turn in, just crashed. No idea what it was.
  9. It was way too fast paced. I finished the game so fast I didn't even research everything. It was just too fast paced with not enough mission types. There's only so much ufo crash/terror/abduction missions I'm willing to do before I get bored. As for the other missions... I fail to understand why aliens would plant a bomb in a city when they can just use a battleship and deploy space cannons to bombard the same city to smitherines... Protecting VIP's should've had at least some local forces fighitng the aliens, as for the aliens themselves, there were not that many. From what I see in Xenonauts, I'm seeing some promise. The reason why I think games like this should be bigger and longer is that this is a war, not a spec ops operation in some remote jungle. I hope you guys understand what scope I'm thinking of. This is why I like this game (xenonauts), you can have many troops in one mission. It's realistic in that aspect. However, for some reason this game still crashes, had my first terror mission and second turn in I got a crash. Something to do with AI mechanics crashed it, maybe, it was during AI movement, I have no idea what it was. Hopefully this is resolved, would make a good game. Migs are useless should have longer range to deploy missles and get outa there.
  10. Amazing work SoloA. Would be awesome to have this implemented in game.
  11. I just finished the new X-COM remake and it's... lacking. I found this website and figured, eh, great place to give in my ideas, maybe they'll produce something worth playing. So far I'm impressed with what I saw in previews. Few Suggestions: The game should be long to finish. The more things in the game, the better. I like long games with intricate story lines. That said. TECH TREE - Research into basic human weapons to combat alien threat. Different shotguns, rifles, pistols, machineguns, grenades, you get the idea. Say you start with M-16, you can research the AK-74, then once you got both you can research a hybrid that has both the punch and the accuracy of both guns. It exists I just forgot the name. Same thing with other variants. Auto pistols, Auto shotguns, etc. 200 round AKM for light machineguns. Heavy machine gun variants. An MP7A1 would be a nice add. Make the research on human weapons such that we can produce not only modern weapons. (since game takes place during cold war, you guys have tons of new weapon references to get ideas from, youtube is a wonderful tool for that) Make it so the final research into human firearms ends in modern/futuristic projectile versions like the TAVOR, the XM8 (and lmg variant), M4-16. Each gun for a specific class of soldier. Each with different stats, depending on your strategy. (Urban combat vs outdoor long range). From there, Research into theoretical warfare, Electric weapons. - Non lethal (taser guns) to lethal. - Light Tesla - Medium Tesla - Heavy Tesla Research into theoretical warfare, laser gun research. (each with all types of gun types, sniper, shotgun, rifle, pistol, etc.) - Light laser class - Medium laser class - Heavy lazer class Research into theoretical warfare, sound frequency. (Can have cool effects like blowing an alien's head to making them go ballistic and do weird things like shoot in random direction before dying.) - Light ultrasound - Medium ultrasound - Heavy ultrasound Theoretical warfare, Microwave guns. (Can be used instead of RPG's to melt machines.) - Light microwave - Medium microwave - Heavy microwave Plasma gun research - Light plasma - Medium plasma - Heavy plasma And with enough research near the end of the game. Subatomic string theory leading to interdimensional guns. Basically, it not only melts targets but also makes their entire bodies change, transports aliens into different areas, making the alien fall to his death. makes organs and extremities shift position, distorts the alien so it dies becuase the body was altered. Use your imagination. Can stick to one class type, or elaborate on more. Basically, I don't like that it just ends in plasma weapons, I believe humans should be able to surpass the aliens in technological innovation. I guess from there on the same concept with aircraft and land vechicles, the long progression I mean. Once that is done it would be time to make a story that is awesome. - Many alien bases - Weird alien experimentation. - Easter egg videos of iceland event captured on camera and other things like alien abductions and stuff like this. If this is put in the game it would be awesome. Just stuff to immerse yourself while you play the game. I guess every time you would get an achievement you would be rewarded with a sick ass video that you could then see again in the xenopedia. Make the game slow paced, meaning, go by reseached and manufactured tech. If you got an upgrade, aliens get one too. Don't rush it, this is why I dissliked the x-com remake, it was too rushed, regardless of your tech level, they just kept going. I get the idea behind it, but it kills the game when it's too short like that. - Big battles of 18 soldiers vs whatever amount of aliens (there's room on the chinook after all) - Upgradable transports. - Upgradable interceptors. - Building more bases. - More realistic bases. - Having your bases attacked by aliens and needing to repell them. - Alien bases on earth. - Underwater missions. - Moon missions, common, they have to have bases on there. - space mining and building bases on the moon. - Fighting on motherships. - Colonizing and fighting on mars (to get access to rare minerals and metals for construction of the last project. - Last project, build mothership, use it to obliterate their invasion forces. An awesome ending cinematic would be a great ending there, space battle followed by victory, with people cheering in the streets and soldiers applauding eachother type a thing. Could leave the game there with promise of a follow up where you invade THEIR planet(s). The other thing is the animation and graphics, I'm sure it will get upgraded. Main concern is furniture in buildings, they can't just be empty, common, take example from the new x-comm when it comes to interior decorating. Music playing in bars, that sort of thing. Many, many cool videos, also, cheesy things like a drunk farmer getting abducted by aliens. However, most should be serious, like it's not a joke, serious invasion goin on. Those are my suggestions. Lemme know what you guys think.
