My latest episode. Tell me what you think!

-
There are zombies in the game already!!!
It's a joke

-
I actually kept looking for a download link somewhere in the post. Damn you!
Goldhawk have to make it first

-
You know what would increase the sales of this game... a zombie remake!
Like the Sniper Elite Zombie dlcs. I have a feeling more people played that one than the original game. Zombies are popular, so if you have zombies in your game = more sales which means more money! Especially if you make it dedicated dlc. Don't forget achievements and cards. A plus would also be some sort of co-op mode, with preferable "horde"-mode.
You can call it Xenonauts: Terror from six feet under
Just a tip!
-
The two pilots also serve as researchers, while one pilots the chinook the other one performs the autopsy in front of all the Xenonauts agents.
-
Ohh, I played it. First mission - terror site, sectoid squad, night time. My team of 12 soldiers gets wiped out everytime I replay it, just can not win. It has been a long time since I had anything so challenging, great! )
Yeah, this game is brutal

This is my memorial after 3 missions. 2 ufos and 1 terror.
-
Thanks Chris, really cool
-
Even if you bought it on steam?
-
I have been trying it out, it's great in every single way. I have downloaded loads of mods as well. Some really fun ones. Like new human weapons, variants on the plasma weapons and new aliens (really well made). And it works flawlessly on a modern system.
-
Ah, that was the problem. Thanks! I can see everything in the viewer now.
-
So I wanted to try making a map. I have been following the tutorial, but for some reason when I open the level viewer everything is pitch black. I extracted the files and everything. What could be wrong and how do I fix it?
It's black even when I load a finished map

-
They will remain unconscious until the end of the ground combat. BTW, if you accidently stun one of the your own men you can wake them up by using the first aid kit on them. It's takes a turn for them to wake up.
Really? I did not know that. I have had men sleeping through the entire mission because of gas-grenade mistakes

-
That is really cool. Didn't think Xenonauts would go DRM free
-
I'm playing on normal. It's pretty funny you should mention the gas grenade, because I had a incident earlier. One of my guys put himself to sleep

I know, I'm not the best commander and I panic really easy

Lost so many men to simple mistakes.
-
This battle was really cool. They all ran inside and tried to kill me, then the commander throws a nade...
Anyway in my game they seem to come out and shoot rather often.

The video should start at 21min and 28s.

Checking out the UFO series now. Never heard about that one before.
-
I have been watching Falling skies a bit, totally forgot about the series though. I thought it was okay. I felt like the humans had it a bit too easy considering what is happening hehe. Never seen the The Tripods, so thanks for that. That could be interesting. 7.7 on imdb. Not bad.
Well, in Mars attacks they look a bit like sectoids at least

Hi all.
Just wondering if you guys know any movies, tv-series or something like that that has the same theme as Xenonauts/X-com? Secret organisation/humanity fighting aliens to surive?
I can think of a few, they are not 100% like Xenonauts/X-com. But they have humans fighting aliens

The classic tv-series V is one. But in that tv-serie they are more like an rebellion, and the aliens have already conquered earth when the rebellion starts. Same with the movie "They Live", but yeah, still good both of them. Especially two things. The big conspiracy reveal in "They Live". Still get goosebumps. And the battles with laser weapons in V. I love those battles. Man being the underdog, the uniforms, the reptile skin under the burn marks... It felt so damn cool. Oh well!
Then we have X-files. X-files though, is actually about a secret organistion, but not about all out war or invasion (a bit more invasiony in the first movie I guess). More cloak & dagger stuff, but I guess that series could simulate what goes on behind the curtain when nations fall

So do you guys have any fun tips?
-
max caine, I think most of us know that you can't save them all, even the arcade-like version of Xcom makes this a pretty big point. The problem I'm having is that nations are abandoning the project after one month and basically screws up the playthrough from the get-go. And there is nothing you can do about it, except praying to the gods that the alien will concentrate thier activity in the region you placed your base in. Not even the classic X-com was this brutal.
-
The situation in my game is kinda funny. So my main base is in Europe. In the second month I decided to place a base in north america, since they have been having a bit of a UFO problem... and well, they are one of the founders for Xenonauts so they do deserve some coverage. So I'm getting closer to the end of the month and even after shooting down some UFOs north america still isn't happy with me. I'm thinking well, they have a base now so I can turn it around, and I'm also having it in my mind, that well, they are one of the founders of the project and it would be silly if they decided to withhold the money.
Third month comes and... North america gives up / surrender / pulls out of the project... I couldn't help but laugh. So now I have a useless base (almost) that are bleeding money like crazy. I'm minus around 500k, since Australia and South America have decided to pull out as well. South America in the second month, and Australia in the third. I'm feeling a bit screwed at the moment. I don't have any money, so I can't build more bases to provide cover for Asia / Russia and I can only afford to loose 1 more continent. The thing though that really gets me is that I have shot down every UFO that has come up. I might have missed a few, like 2-3 but that was in Europe and Europe loves me. So the missed UFOs there don't matter.
But it is the other places that I have no chance to provide cover for that destroys me, and there is no way right now to prevent that if you don't build bases all over the world from the get go, and that is not something I want to do. I will continue playing of course and see if I can save earth still, it just kinda takes me out of the immersion that nations / continents are giving up that fast... 3 months in. Come on, we have a hostile alien presence on earth and nobody cares!?
Edit.
I'm playing on normal difficulty.
-
I hope next game will be X-com but in reverse. You invade as the aliens. You start with kidnapping cows or the equivalent. Slowly stepping up with abducting humans or whatever race lives on the planet to full scale invasion and you have to fight "Xenonauts" and regular military

(All in sprites of course!)
-
Just funny when you consider how fast some of these continents give up. If it was world war 2 germany would control the world in 3 months

-
Poor farmer, just hanging around, smoking a cig by his fence then all of a sudden a soldier pulls out a rocket launcher and fires it at his direction. I don't think he will support Xenonauts anymore

-
I just order my men to run out shooting and screaming, a bit like the first attack in Starship Troopers
(usually ends the same too for some reason)

Battle Brothers (Medieval X-com sort of, relased as Early Acces on Steam)
in Off-Topic
Posted · Edited by alienman
Hey all.
Just wanna say that the EA version of Battle Brothers has been released on Steam. Here is the link:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/365360/
Check it out. It's a cross between X-com and Jagged Alliance 2. I got a early code a couple of months ago, and I have been playing it a-lot since then. It's a great game right now, but it might be missing some content. Lots of features are planned though. You can read all about it on Steam or their official site: http://battlebrothersgame.com/
I don't want to make this out to sound like advertisement, but like Xenonauts it's a niche game and need all the help it can get!
