  1. Me too; I'd like to see what they say about my stun pistol idea. Here that is, in case people missed it: So, yeah. Some aliens carry a short range stun plasma pistol in the abduction missions (since they would need something to stun people, right?). We research it, and it says we don't understand it. Once we research our own plasma weapons, we get an "improved stun weapon" research, after which we get a short range stun plasma pistol that deals stun and EMP damage, and we get improved stun batons that deal super high stun and EMP damage. Should be great for taking out androns, if you want to get close range with them. It'd be especially difficult since they can't be suppressed.
  2. I don't think they're going to get rid of squad sight (as it's kinda needed), but persistent sight. Like, you need to have a guy actively looking somewhere to see anything. That should make it rather important to have well defended scouts, I would think. Also, sentinel armor will be even more useful with that +sight range.
  3. I think he was talking about "the AI" as in the Xenonauts AI, not "AI" in general. Note, the "the" in there.
  4. Awesome. (This is merely speculation, albeit informed speculation): Still not gonna make it into the game. Sorry mate. Also, just out of curiosity, how successful/popular was that game, or the other UFO-inspired game/s you mentioned? I'm not trying to bash or anything, but as far as I know, Xenonauts is the only game that comes close to the original. I'm just interested in what all has been done, and what has and has not worked.
  5. Yeah, I didn't actually expect it to be implemented. I think it would make choosing your loadouts more important instead of simply giving everyone a sniper rifle, a shotgun, and a rocket launcher, but the current system is fine, if not a little wonky in that you can't have a shield and a rifle in your pack simultaneously. If I were to advocate any changes, it'd be flipping shields in your pack to be horizontal like your guns, or flipping the guns to be vertical like the shield. I'd prefer vertical, since then we'd be able to put a vertical RL in the pack and a full load of rockets, but that'd involve more work (all of the long arms vs just two shields). It'd be a great benefit, though. I don't mean adding a rotation system for the inventory; I mean permanently flipping the images and "pack sizes" (if that makes sense) of the weapon when it's in the pack vs when it's in your hands. If the inventory itself, the square arrangement and the like, isn't changed, then only flipping the shields/rifles would be needed; the pistol and stun rod could stay the way they were.
  6. Oh, great, we've got another Jean-Luc on the forums. haha
  7. Um... What's the point of playing Iron Man mode if you want to save things? Personally, I just play non-iron man mode, and just don't save scum. Simple.
  8. Well, the "shape" of the gun doesn't matter at all. I mean, you can place anything into the hands, shield, rockets, corpses even? I dunno. Anyway, the shape doesn't limit how it's put into the hands. Making the images flip, which is what I realize you're talking about, that /may/ be an issue, but I doubt it would be super difficult. (Getting it to work with the apparently fragile code could be another thing, though.)
  9. Well, I threw together a mockup of how I'd like to see the inventory redone, along with one of the current inventory and that of Enemy Unknown, along with the stats of how much stuff you can cram in there for each of the three methods. Enjoy! Apparently you can't read them, due to tiny text. Here's a link to my dropbox where you can get the PDF: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mf9fc5pp699h6dn/Xenonauts%20Inventory%20Ideas.pdf
  10. I'd rather all the weapons be vertical. I mean, they'd be stored barrel up or down anyway, wouldn't they? Safest place to point the weapon, and it'd be the most logical if it were on a sling. The pistol could fit in like that too, that is, vertically.
  11. No, we need the ability to put a shield in a pack. Don't make it too short.
  12. Personally, I just give a shotgun to all my marksmen. Throw it in the pack, and switch it out when you need it. That should help with the problems of suddenly coming face to face with an alien whilst holding a precision rifle.
  13. Frick, a hundred times better? Now that's good coding. Give that man a cookie.
  14. Here's something I came up with ages ago. Enjoy!
  15. @Aaron Can we get the ability to rotate items in our packs?
  16. I have two snipers that carry shotguns in their packs. It works great; they have some good options.
  17. I'd support the idea of a reboot, if you wanted to make "Xenonauts: Director's Cut" or something of the like. Of course, like you said, that's merely conjecture, but still.
  18. Can we mod the inventory? Like, add a very faint transparent outline of a vest, and make pockets for it, then make a weapon sling slot or something? Also, rotating items in the inventory is something that we absolutely need to have. Really, it makes so much sense.
  19. I agree on point 3. A TU indicator would really really be useful.
  20. No, I was saying you can do that yourself without the devs spending precious time and treasure on adding a feature that frankly doesn't sound all that great or needed. I mean, honestly, if you're choosing Iron Man, is it because you're somehow super weak-willed and know that you're going to save scum unless you literally cannot do so? Are you so concerned about the mere possibility that you may submit to the temptation of reloading an autosave that you want the developers to add a special mode that prevents you from doing so? I cannot see the appeal, unless you literally cannot stop yourself from save scumming and "abusing the system", as you call it. Personally, I don't even see the point of playing with iron man mode. I mean, I know that I'm not going to save scum, but I also know that I want to be prepared for a game-killing crash or a power outage or something outside of my control. Why remove the possibility to recover from an odd corrupted save file, or a crashed game, or the like, when the whole point of iron man mode, "You can't save scum", isn't even an issue for me? Does iron man mode make the game harder? No, it doesn't. You'll still get your butt kicked just as hard with or without it. What it does do is provide a "safety measure" or a crutch to players who think that save scumming is "below them", and yet are afraid of the day when they'll resort to save scumming themselves. It only "benefits" the weak-willed. Disclaimer I'm sorry if this sounds rather sharp or confrontational; I'm just trying to clearly state my point. Any offense is not intended.
  21. TL;DR I have a super simple suggestion for you, and it will solve all of your personal save-scumming problems: Don't "abuse the system" yourself and reload autosaves at all, but only reload saves you made yourself. Ta Da! Your problem is now solved.
