V21 Experimental 4 Balance Update Released!
Moonie replied to Chris's topic in Xenonauts-2 Releases & Patch Notes
This is usual these days with games that are under development. On one side you have your casual player, who just wants a fun game. And then you have your braggers, who like to order the hottest curry in the house. The braggers usually win, as most will rally to the flag of machismo, and the poor casuals have to wait on the modders. -
V21 Experimental 4 Balance Update Released!

I have stopped playing because of the OP aliens, it's just no fun anymore, it's just one big bag of frustration. Stuff like this can really ruin your day. -
How far of completion do you think we now are? No rush, only asking.

No problems for me either, except for getting to know what my best party was. Had to restart quite a few times before I got it right. Great game.

I'm knocking myself out on 'Might and magic X Legacy' at the moment. What a absolutely blinding game, 100% pure octane addiction.

V21 Experimental 1 Balance Patch Available!
Moonie replied to Chris's topic in Xenonauts-2 Releases & Patch Notes
I think Chris is close when it comes to making the game faster paced and dangerous. But problems will arise when we dip into fantasy, were mage aliens with wizard sight can lob deadly accurate arcane bolts from any distance, and sometimes regardless of obstacles. -

Usually it's the first dudes, the ones with the white heads that use to wear hoddies. It has happened when a alien is in view and after that alien has been killed. Also if one of your soldiers has a alien in view the shot from the dark can kill a soldier that has no LOS with the alien in question. It's all a bit screwy. -

I was losing a lot of my squad members to shots from nowhere. I did see where they were coming from, and sometimes back tracked to kill the little bleeder, but he was miles into the fow. I mean my people may as well have been falling over with heart attacks for what little I could do to prevent it. I'm not moaning though. There is always something about a game that some of us don't like. You just have to get over it somehow. -

You know, it's a long time ago, but in the original UFO_EU I remember shots coming from out of nowhere, but they rarely done much damage. They were your sign to move in that direction................very carefully. One of the coolest aliens was a thing that turned your men into a thing. That little bugger got your heart pumping. -

Oh well, not much us No's can do about it. The Yes's must be catered for. The comment were he said how a alien shot come from somewhere on the map, and hit something near by, so I would assume he then would duck for cover. Having that happen is one thing and may add to the suspense, but I see no rhyme or reason to instantly losing a man/woman to a magic shot, except to piss the player off. -

I did mean FOW, when I wrote 'the dark' Killing shots out of nowhere. Is everyone happy with these? I feel I am the only one that hates them. -

I shall pick it up again once something is done with the instant kill alien shots coming out of nowhere. It's just to annoying to play atm. -

I think what is happening is that all aliens have squad-sight. The problem here is that they should only have squad-sight if you have sight on at least one alien, and if that alien should die then all other aliens should loose squad-sight. But this does not seem to be working as it should. -

Getting 'no fun' killed a lot. One reason is, all aliens seem to have squad sight, even after any alien having you in sight is killed. Result is, critical shot fired from miles into fog war are instant death. There is not much point in using tactics if you get instant killed from anywhere on the map with LOS, without ever seeing what or who is shooting you. It would be better if after you have landed, just inform player all your squad is dead. Killed by enemy unknown. Game over. -

Thanks, I take it that this is automatic if signed up for experimental builds? I will give it a whirl. Funny, my steam update says 0 byte download. -
I suppose your ready for another good whipping aren't you slave?

Haha! More like impossible. I hope that there are 2 easy modes. One for absolute beginners and one for casual players, and the rest for those who like to hurt themselves.
