  1. I'm excited for both. Xenonauts, indie developed and being completely faithful to the original with improvements and a nice grid based graphics system. Then X-Com from firaxis, triple A looking title, took out a few of the nostalgic things and added some others. Multiplayer is a "meh" for me but I am excited to see how it turns out. I think it's fair and natural to compare them, they are both basing off the same game. But I think choosing one over the other may be a tad silly, with the low pre order price of xenonauts. They certainly are different games.
  2. I hadn't known the game is still crashing. I was assuming it was a relatively stable build, I guess that was silly since it was alpha. Great point Max, excuse my ignorance. When I say I'm new, I mean it.
  3. I'm new here, hello! For those of you who have the X-COM from 1994 and are playing it still here is a thread to ask questions. I'm new to the game myself, recently bought it to get into the series. I'm playing it without any of those CPU dampening utilitys and it runs like intended, not hyper fast like I see on some LPs. Setting up is easy and fun, follow this link to the steam forums: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1146530 Don't have the game? Check ebay! I'm loving it and excited for xenonauts. I don't find myself too keen on Firaxis as they seemed to trash TUs, Base Defense, Putting your base wherever you want, and having multiple bases. For me, this really kind of sours the strategical aspect. No one wants less options, am I right? So far, in UFO Defense, I'm doing well. It's overwhelming and I had to read a lot to get into it. Each game is an improvement and maybe eventually I won't be wiped consistently on terror missions. I'll start this off with my own question: What do you do to avoid alien grenades? My hatred for them started early on when someone threw an alien grenade into my ship and knocked out almost the entirety of my team from turn three. Not one to get angry over video games, I found myself laughing but some how dreading the next time that happens.
  4. I think putting it on the back burner is a horrid idea when it's such an obvious glitch/issue. With immersion being part of the xcom fun, this type of clipping could easily be on the forefront of gamer's issues. With people actively setting up LPs, it's something that'd definitely detract from preorders. When someone sees a consistent graphical error build through build like that, we can all see how it'd turn someone off. I'd at least say it should get a bump, when you don't have NDA (and bless them for that) these jarring cosmetic issues should be bit more important. But again, I had not heard this from a dev so I reserve absolutely no delusions that this is indeed the case. I sound like a jag off on the internet, I'm sorry for that. I'm a humble and easy going guy, there's just something about my typing tone that's cynical and overbearing. I appreciate this remake true to the series and admire the devs and community for their hard work/testing.
