  1. I actually have a different take on this. Any exposure for this game is good exposure. For some people, pirating is the only way to get the game. They might be kids, they might not have the money, or some other circumstance. If they pirate the game, the chances that they would have bought the game is very low in the first place. However, someone might see them play this game one day and want to buy it. It could even be the case the the pirate likes the game so much that they buy their own copy or suggest it to their friends. Alot of them might be pirate friends, but that doesn't mean that it wouldn't create interest in this game. Thus the game community grows. What happens when the community grows? More fans, more mods, and more support for Chris. If Chris decides to make another game, it could even be feasible for some of the pirates to support it via kick starter. Take the Wasteland kick starter for example. A kid pirated the first game a long time ago because he had no money, but when he grew up and heard of the remake, he pledged 10k to make up for it. This is a special circumstance, but it shows that not all pirates hate developers and want everything for free. I believe that alot of pirates love games (hence why they spend so much effort to crack DRM and put up torrents) and they aren't dumb enough to not realize that pirating can hurt developers. However, it is key that the developers have an understanding with pirates. They shouldn't actively prosecute them, but rather acknowledge their love for the game and state clearly while they understand that developers suffer when their game is pirated. I don't think there should be DRM for this game, because it is futile and only antagonizes pirates. A gaming firm does not want to become a target for pirates. Take EA for example. Alot of people hate the shit out of that company, and pirate out of spite. We don't want that.

  4. Hey, I was the one that posted the picture. My rocket was fired by my rocket trooper. The round used was the red one, or the one that came with the rocket in the beginning of the game.   5. Me too. It even does it when he's dead. I shot him last turn with a rocket and the alien pop up went away. When I ended turn my screen was stuck on this> I could still hear music but count' move the camera or click on anything.
  6. What's this, delays and radio silence? I thought I was visiting the Xenonauts forum, not Diablo 3. Lol, jk. Unless Chris decides to tease us with a release date "soon" and then proceeds to have radio silence for 6 months.
  7. Those look great! I hope they get put into the game. If not, I guess I just learn how to add this stuff.
  8. During ground combat, my soldier is standing next to a window. I attempt to shoot the window to the front left of him, and he shoots the ground. I manually target the window/wall , not the ground.
  9. It was a window in the barn on farm tile, so it looked like an open hole. I didn't shoot anything through it before.
  10. That's probably it. I would upload a screenshot, but I don't know how to take one or upload it.
  11. During a game, I tried to fire a rocket at a sebastion alien with my trooper. He proceeds to fire into the wall instead of through the window that he was standing right next to. It explodes, he dies, and the game crashes to destktop. This was on the farm tiles. I think it might be something to do with the firm/smoke effects on the farm tiles.
  12. I second that, tried to move a soldier up, and same thing happened.
  13. When playing in the farm tiles, I sometimes see a black space on the map. It acts like the edges, no one can move through it and i can't click on it. The ship I shot down was one scout and it was the new aliens, if that was of any help.
  14. When playing on the farm tiles, I moved a soldier over a hedge. He jumped over it, but during that animation his sprite was using normal armor. His weapon was still the same though. I replicated it with other soldiers.

  16. Is there any reason why you are using the f1 keys? I know alot of laptops have them combined with another key and it could be a hassle to use them. I suggest the 1-0 keys.
  17. I like the unhired soldiers remaining idea, but maybe add an option to refresh troop list at the end of the month for money?
  18. That's when you have to think farther ahead. If you feel that you are going to build a base soon, then you start hiring a month before hand. That way you interact with the hiring process more often without making it boring. If you suddenly need alot more people, then you shouldn't expect to draw the best of the best on such short notice. I think even if their attributes are -1 to -4, it wouldn't matter too much because you'll have more people during base defense. Therefore, having weaker soldiers at home would make base defense both more realistic and challenging.
  19. Dunno man. I would need to check the sounds again. They're all creepy to me. But in the case that it is an alien that ballistics can't hurt, there should be a notice that pops up that notifies you... Wait, nvm. I just realized that the new alien would look different in the full version. Do not dumb down the game for us, Chris. Watch this video wen you got free time. It's funny and I think it make a good point on how game devs can teach players how to play their game intuitively.
  20. I loaded up 8.4 today, started a new game on normal and did everything normally. Shot down my first ufo, sent the chinook. Only thing I changed in soldier set up was replacing a shotgunner's weapon with a machinegun. Battlescreen loads, and I notice that everything is barren. No biggie, something this evident will be reported soon. I proceed to hunt down some dirty aliens. I cleaned out their ship, sent a dude to the control room to start taking it, and proceed to hunt for the rest of the aliens. I happen upon one in the middle of the (barren) map, and tell everyone in my squad to shoot it. I get a couple of good hits, and think that it'll probably go down in the next round. Alien turn happens and my hunter explodes. I don't care very much, and spend the next round shooting at one alien. I then start noticing that he's taking lot more damage than I think he should be. Like a sniper round, 2 shotty rounds, and a few rifles on full auto. All of these were hits, meaning I see his hit animation and that weird scream. I think to myself that maybe they were all glancing shots, and start to worry since my guys are getting kinda close. Next alien round and another alien pops into my vision and kills a squaddie. At this point I'm thinking, "why won't these guys die?" and proceed to pour all of my firepower into the two aliens. They shrug it off like it was nothing, and proceed to waste 2 more of my men. At this point I'm freaking out and sending my guys in full retreat. I run and shoot for three more rounds, and get my mission victory from taking the ship for 5 turns. The two aliens laugh as I run away with their ship and feast on the remains of my four fallen comrades. I'm confused, but carry on like a champ, shooting down another ufo and sending my chinook there for the second battle. During this time I start researching alienum. Second battle starts the same. I kill one alien, he kills my second jeep (which btw seems to only have 17 hp), and it seems that he suddenly levels up and nothing hurts him anymore. another alien appears and they proceed to turn my whole squad into the extras in a Rambo movie. Tl:dr Aliens become invincible during battlescape after a few turns. This could be due to a few reasons. 1.My jeep dies before they become invincible. There might be a connection. 2.The invincible aliens always seem to be in the middle of the barren map. But they can move away. 3.My jeeps died around turn 3-4. It might just be around that time the aliens turn immortal. 4.If I remember correctly, rockets could still kill them. But that might be faulty memory. I didn't have a rocket trooper in the second battle and I was able to kill aliens normally in the first few turns. 5.I accidentally changed the difficulty to impossible 6.My soldiers hate me and loaded their guns with marshmellows.
  21. I second this idea. I crashed my game the first 4 times because I thought it froze and then I ctrl-alt-del it.
  22. Sorry about not making it clear. I meant map levels. I believe that we cycled through aim levels by right clicking. But I also think that it wouldn't be too hard to make where if you are aiming it switches to aim level, and if you are not it defaults back to map levels
