  1. Corvettes have been the bane of my existence, along with androns, for exactly this reason. I even had an alien drop a grenade inside a door without opening it to kill my guys on the other side once.
  2. Civillians running around completely unconcerned about the plasma fire coming their way.
  3. 27 chryssalids. Say what you want about the Two Action system nerfing them, but 27 chryssalids. I had to play through that mission six times before I even succeeded, and even then I took a casualty.
  4. I believe a list of all your fallen soldiers pops up during the credits, assuming you make it that far. I'd love the same thing but theres only so much xenonauts budget, and I suspect we've run through it all.
  5. Honestly its really not as bad as all that. You aren't hiding behind the cover in EU, you're usually in overwatch, which means your head and weapon are exposed, which means its possible to shoot you. If you use hunker down and are actually hiding behind the cover you almost never get shot.
  6. I really do not miss that. One of my ways of describing Xenonauts is "X-com if the X-com commander thought to hire a secretary" or Executive officer or what have you but the point is, there's no way the commander should have to do that him/herself.
  7. Haha. We've all had one or two. My personal one was I went on the forums complaining that fighters really aren't dangerous enough and asking "What are they supposed to do? Go after the dropship? All they do is get farmed for alloys" One hour later a fighter nailed my shrike and killed all my best team, and that cost me the whole playthrough.
  8. C4ing all the things is probably the solution. Androns are the bane of my existence whenever I try to breach a UFO. Is it just me or do they have amazing reaction fire skills?
  9. I think good ground combat missions are supposed to increase relations bonus, but only if the civvies and local yokels survive, and theres no way I'm putting a xenonaut at risk for that.
  10. Reminds me of the good old days when Foxtrots had four torpedoes. In this situation what I usually do is just hit and run, dump the torpedoes and run away to rearm. Foxtrot should be able to outrun the Fighters I believe. How do you usually structure your Fighter wings? I usually have a pair of condors anchored by a foxtrot, and slowly phase out the condors for corsairs, and then replace the foxtrots with marauders and eventually transition to purely marauders.
  11. I've had the same problem with the scimitar. Its laser pulse cannon is amazingly powerful but it just can't take a punch whenever I put it in the fight. The one time I brought one to a terror mission it died before it even left the dropship. If they got repaired like interceptors do after getting killed I'd say its worth it but I just can't afford the expense of replacing it every other mission.
  12. How far into the game have you gotten? A while back there was a bug that prevented the research for MAG weapons from triggering. If you've hit carriers you should be able to research them, if not just wait a while longer.
  13. I was going to yell at you to read the xenopedia again but having double checked it doesn't actually say it there. I know somewhere in the game it explains that there's a driver in there, but to a certain degree its just common sense that someone is operating the vehicle. And the Scimitar it explicitly states that they've removed the driver in favor of more armor by fitting a signal amplifier to all the dropships and remote controlling it from base.
  14. I've now set it so that he always appears because I cannot go into battle without knowing Josh Eales is there to carry the day/die painfully while someone with better stats gets to live to fight another day.
  15. Only problem is Androns can't be suppressed. Which is only partially why everyone died. But that's a good point, can a suppressed alien still fire the plasma cannon on its turn? Or is it just sad and afraid like a Heavy Weapons soldier is when they get suppressed.
  16. YEah I have a tendency to establish a base of fire with Heavy weapons, which tends not to work well when the enemy has heavier weapons than I do. But I end up in these really frustrating Catch-22s where if I stay on the dropship they'll smash me with a heavy weapon and if I disperse I get picked off by incidental fire. I had a really bad one where my Scimitar got killed and clogged up the back of the Shrike and four androns were covering the other exit from inside a building. Total Squad wipe in four minutes. Every time I've tried to use smoke it has failed me. I don;t know if I try to use it to redeem a lost cause or if its not that effective though. Does it usually work for you?
  17. We're running into the exact opposite problem of armor disappearing actually. Not sure if its at all related to one another but it feels like two symptoms of the same problem to me.
  18. First thought that occurs to me is that a hard cap would ruin the downsides of failing a terror mission.
  19. Yep. I only recently realized how useful Buzzard troopers are, especially now that Harridans use their jumpjets too. Had some awesome running and jumping rooftop battles last game. Even in open fields its just Pop one up, see what they see, apply four heavy weapons, rinse and repeat.
  20. So what do you guys normally do when you get ambushed as the mission starts before you get off the dropship? After an incident involving a plasma cannon that I'd rather not talk about I find myself in need o
  21. Can confirm you can throw over hedegrows and walls. Haven't tried a shipping container though, but being able to throw over hedegrows has saved my ass a few times.
