  1. What poor citizens? I can guarantee you sir, you will not find any bodies in that rubble.
  2. Look at my avatar man. Is that the forum insignia of a man who would back down in the face of Godzilla? (In case you have no idea what it is, it's the GDI Steel talons insignia, the people responsible for this monstrosity: http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101218021749/cnc/images/7/74/Mammoth_Tank_MkII_01.jpg)
  3. I thought ironman saved the moment anything happens? How would you save scum that?
  4. Would this mod let you also equip the standard kill everything gun so I can do even more damage to the city than the aliens do on terror missions?
  5. At this point in the development process its highly unlikely. I also had that thought and would really like to be able to use higher level vehicles for suppresion duties instead of gibbing everyone, but you can't stay in development forever and some things have to go or aren't worth the effort.
  6. I believe the game sorts soldiers by seniority I.E. Number 1 will be a commander and number 12 will be a private.
  7. My advice about cover that will save you a lot of frustration is never put your troops in a position where they need that cover to shot block in order to survive. Never rely on cover completely, retreat and block LoS if you cannot kill an alien on your turn, and leverage a support weapon (I.E. Either a LMG, Shotgun, or Sniper rifle) to take it out next turn, or set up reaction fire if it moves into your LoS. Aliens can and will shoot your guys no matter what cover they've got, and relying on it will just make you rage. Never assume that a piece of cover will keep you alive. Rely on breaking LoS and superior firepower where you can leverage it.
  8. Alien bases can usually be discovered by a ton of landingships operating in a single area or an excess of Grounded UFOs, but that only works if you have Radar coverage over the Alien Base, and it absolutely makes sense that local militaries who cannot directly engage the Aliens can at least provide recon information to the Xenonauts. Its not like those supply ships are particularly subtle. So for people not using steam will this go up on Desura or is only V1.05 planned to go up? I know its a pain in the ass I'd just like to know either way.
  9. I think Kevin Hamm is right. Last mission I ran my shield trooper got taken down by a reaper, but neither the reaper nor the zombie was there when the rest of my team got LoS. I was never able to account for it again, i secured the entire map, it wasn't outside, and it wasn't in the UFO when I breached, but it told me I killed all the aliens when the map ended.
  10. Coming home with more than half the squad
  11. I go into it assuming that no, being on the rooftop gives you none of the protection that it logically should, and purely use my buzzard troops as scouts for the ground forces. Its significantly more effective that way, and makes the game much less dangerous if you manage to keep all or most of the aliens in view where they can't shoot back. And occasionally, when you get a rooftop that provides some cover lets you rain down death on people.
  12. I've never seen it happen, so I assume its impossible.
  13. Its really amusing when someone told me why the game was that hard. Apparently there was originally a bug that no matter what you picked, the game was on easy, and people complained that the game was too easy before the devs picked up on the bug. Thus TFTD.
  14. Chris has already said that whatever the next project is, it won't be Xenonauts 2. I wouldn't exactly mind another one, but its his company.
  15. It feels much more rushed than I remember. There was a time where I could relax slightly after researching laser weapons, but now its a constant race for plasma instead. I usually still am building laser weapons when I finish researching plasma, and find that I need them very quickly. It makes it much harder to budget things.
  16. Huh, I was under the impression yuo still had to go back to base to rearm. Regardless, that's assuming zero casualties on the mission, which is unlikely.
  17. Only reason any of my men made it out at all was liberal use of flamethrowers.
  18. DAMN. I've never gotten anywhere near that many aliens on classic. I'd kind of like too by the end game, especially when I have some of the second wave options on. The best team I ever put together was two MEC troopers, A gene modded Psi trooper, two supports and a heavy, all of whom had 90 and above aim, and all of whom had bullet storm. So I was firing 10 times a turn, and almost never missing, on top of mind controlling something. That playthrough was fun.
  19. I always used one team before, but I think I just convinced myself to get a B team. No idea where I'm going to get the startup cash though. My problem is my A team is already taking casualties like mad. Corvettes usually wipe out all my experienced soldiers with their maddening death funnels and from there its a struggle to keep a few sergeants and lieutenants hand at all times. Starting up a team of all privates is gonna put people through the meat grinder.
  20. Welp, I'm out of ideas. Also the NEIN when that guy dropped his stun grenade was great. God knows how many times I've yelled the same thing. Its a shame you don't have more views, looks like you really know what you're doing.
  21. Well look at it, Airstriking a scout will get me 15k. But doing the mission will net me 70-80k. So if I can scoop up say four extra scouts a month, thats an extra 256k, total of 316k for shooting down those scouts. (I'm not entirely sure how airtriking vs ground assault works for regional funding, so for the purposes of this argument I'm going to ignore that aspect) That pays for a shrike and the soldiers within the first month counting only cash. It also significantly helps my stores of alenium and alien alloys(Or alternatively, gives me a surplus of alenium and alien alloys that I can then sell for even more profit). If we equip this team with two Scatter lasers, two Laser Carbines, and six laser rifles, along with ten suits of Wolf Armor, thats 880K. So within three months of four scouts a month, your second team has paid for itself and its equipment with the difference between airstrikes and ground assaults. That formula breaks down completely when we start picking up the occasional corvete or Landingship but I don't feel like doing all the math on that. The point is that at the very least, the tooltip should be changed from "Air-striking gives you almost as much money" to "Airstriking gives you nowhere near as much money but is better than letting the aliens get away" EDIT: All these calculations were done for Veteran difficulty.
  22. Chris, I think whats happening is unless the chassis is destroyed after the vehicle dies it comes back to life. I've only seen this three times but that's the only consistent variable that I can think of.
  23. I'm having to airstrike so much that I'm considering investing in an entire second team, the lost income from having to airstrike so many feels like it might actually cover the cost of a second dropship, sets of armor and weapons. And thats a really high cost.
  24. I've had some really badass moments from local forces on occasion. Once I had a cop start blasting away with his pistol behind me and when I turned around there was a dead reaper almost inside my perimeter. Most of the time however they exist to eat plasma.
