  1. how do i download it in the launcher it says ive got 17.91xx?
  2. hey so quick question. in the original xcom, when a ufo was shot down based on damage, it would be more destroyed on the combat map.( ie more of the ships walls were blown apart and there was more fire, which I believe was randomly generated) is this planned in xenonauts? or do you guys just plan on a single craft with single or set destroyed points?
  3. *Remembers very large and terror ships from ufo defense* *has a nightmare* oh god the lag. oh god it was so slow i thought i was playing microsoft powerpoint slideshow. THE HORROR THE HOOOOOOOORROOOOORRR
  4. does this affect armor permanantly or per mission. like if a guys armor gets shot up in a mission, is it repaired after and good for the next mission, or do you have to make a new suit?
  5. Well I'm going to try the firaxis game as well. probably buying it. but i just am not holding it in high as regards as xenonauts. this is just my opinion but any game that gets produced as cross platform (ie making it for ps3 xbox and pc) usually ends up as a sloppy pc game mainly because they have to keep the game simple for console audiences. (you cant have 50 commands, on a keyboard, then expect them to be able to have all 50 on a 12 button controller. so we get chopped down)
  6. i dont know, the firaxis game might try to be xcom in spirit, but in body its just a different game.. its gonna play like halo wars, or commandos more than it will play like xcom.. and to me having the name, but not same gameplay isnt enough. the game might be good and might be fun, but its not xcom. this is just like the reisdent evil argument where people are saying resident evil 4 and 5 are good games. yeah theyre good games, but play 0 1 2 and 3 and cv, they are how resident evil games play. 4 and 5 are fun, and in spirit are resident evil, but they arent in body or gameplay..
  7. i actually havent play too much xeno, i just skimmed over an alpha release from a few months ago, for a few hours, too see how my kickstarter i backed is going i definatley love the look and sound of the game, great art direction. I just hope they dont simplify too much from the original xcom either way the game has my backing and im totally excited for it.
  8. hmm not sure how i feel about that. early game managment of human weapons was fun for me. buyin rockets, and nades, etc. so does that mean loading equipment on the craft is no longer existant? we just equip each soldier now?
  9. wait i thought unlimited starting supplies was just for the purpose of beta? Thought in the real game we'd have to buy equipment like in the original xcom..
  10. i agree. the biggest bummer for me for the original xcom was the overall arch of events. it was like why bothering doing this or that, or researching this, you just need an avenger, 20 guys, and a live alien commander. there should be like 3 different endings. - A cydonia style mission to mars ( fun for those who want a goal oriented ending) - A kill em till there aint no more to kill ( fun for players who like to keep the game going) - a huge orbital battle involving multiple air missions and the "mother ship" which needs to be taken down. then ground assaulted with tons of aliens on both sides. after which the rest of the aliens can be mopped up (fun for those who want a blaze of glory ending) - possibly another scenario, FEAR. the player scores so high in the later months, the aliens see the invasion as a lost cause and pull out. maybe make certain goals, like having to score super high, having to kill xxx commanders. researching terror weapons or torture on the aliens. (fun for those who want a score based ending)
  11. Suppression % directly reflects how much ap available next round. example: alien has 100 ap you suppress him 40%. so he gets 60% of his ap ie 60ap in this case this creates room for suppression tactics. you can use a guy with an mg to lay down fire and keep the aliens from moving while your others flank them. maybe you could also code the enemy to do this.. have one lay down heavy plasma fire, when the other notices suppression on xenonaut soldiers, it flags code to move in for a kill.
  12. that is a good question.. what DOES appear when you shoot down a ufo in the middle of the amazon??
  13. Well that's what i mean its just a visual improvement, ie atmospheric. i mean you could change the background noise and musci too.. but in the end its just aesthetics and doesn't change much
  14. Just a quick question: Will there be more battlescape lighting than just plain day and night? like a dusk with an orange yellow hue of a setting sun, or dusk, with faint emitting light from a rising sun?
