  1. To be honest, this game is so big, that it is almost impossible to make a sequel... The fun in X-Com and Xenonauts is you are defending earth (something you know and can relate to outside of the game and lore) against aliens (something you have an idea about, but do not really know). One option for a sequel is a second invasion in some other element (ie terror from the deep), but that will in the end turn out to be the same game, so this should not be a sequel. It should be an expansion. Taking this game of the grand strategy, strategy and turn-based-tactical mix will kill it. I for one am not buying something other, than a "real" X-Com/Xenonauts game. The original X-Com is still playable today, so i see no reason to just go sequel. Make expansions and add new content. I do not have a problem getting a yearly DLC pack for 10 euro with extra content and a 30 euro (terror from the deep style) expansion down the line. This game should have a 5 year cycle easy, maybe even more... Then the game can be remade again in 5-10 years... But the X-Com formula, can be used on other things. Other settings and stories can be set up using this formula. You could make a swat style game or play the mexican government in a fight vs. the different drug cartels. The special forces element is great, and can fight other enemies than aliens... Historical settings could also be an option. Or if you want to go full retard, make a game where we play the aliens and have to invade earth and fight the X-Com/Xenonauts
  2. Does it go down to "9 days" after a day? Like it did in v12... Or do it just stay at 10 days forever?
  3. Just got the error again After several mission with no problem... This is not just vehicles, it is the overall assignment... Made 2 more bases in the beginning (so i could get a chinook to everywhere in the world)... When they where ready, i shipped some soldiers out there. Then when i put them on my chinooks (in each of the new bases), it only showed 10 in one and 11 in the other in the soldier screen... In the dropship screen i could position 9 in each... In the personel screen all 12 where there, and in the soldier screen none where unassigned. I do not think this is in any way random. It is a question of when you make certain assignment decisions, then the game looks those specific (broken) decisions, and you cannot undo them. Then when you get to a mission, and the game has to reload the database of soldiers and vehicles it freezes, if there is something wrong with the assignments. = This is not a ground combat error, but a base error. Although the freeze/crash does not occur until you start a ground mission. Edit: Training is broken, vehicles are broken, but i cannot identify the problem with soldiers exactly...
  4. hmmm wierd i have not had the error again... Have you got soldiers training? (and are they making any progress?) My soldiers never got any training done, so i stopped doing it, and just gave them trail by fire... This might also be relevant, there seems to be a major bug about assignments... Training has problems, vehicles have problems and sometimes weird things happened in the beginning of missions in 13.1 (i think this has to some degree been fixed in 13.2, but now instead of running missions with the wrong soldiers ect. it just crashes for some)... Are you using vehicles? I leave mine in base (now they cannot be assigned to anything anyway, b/c the assignment bug has hit them, my game will probably go corrupt, when/if my base is attacked), since i prefer 12 men to recon over 8+1... If this assignment business just got fixed i think v13 could run without any major errors...
  5. Got a fix for this.. Just had the same problem... Do to documents and delete all xenonauts files except the savegames you are using (the date and time is in the filename, so they are easy to identify even for a noob like myself)... I did not delete the folder, but just the files in it except the saves... Also the crash dump file should be deleted, which should be outside de xenonauts folder... This worked for me... To devs: It might be a problem with files from different versions confusing the present build? Maybe the old crash dump file should be deleted as part of an update/uninstall/reinstall?
  6. This might be a general assignment bug, since there are also problems with vehicle assignment...
  7. I have 8 soldiers in each of 2 bases in training atm (16 in all), and nothing is happening. I did not count the days, but i am reasonably sure, that 10 days have passed, and they are still at "TRAINING 10 DAYS", and nothing is happening... Just to get training started on one base took a save-reload to get it working. And others seem to be having different issues with training, that was not in v12.1... Help: It is getting hard playing with 6 soldiers and 1 hunter in each of my chinooks, so can i do something in the savegame-file, so i can just get their training done or just cancel it, so i can battlefield train them instead?
  8. I went back a save and sent the planes home, refueled and sent them to the fight... This solved the problem for me, but you should be able to have multiple engagements without returning to base if you have enough fuel and ammo...
  9. [12.1 - Air Combat] Sry couldn't see anywhere i could edit the headline
  10. I had one very small UFO sighted, so i scrambled 3x F-17 to engage... They kill it only with auto cannons, then i had a second spotting of a very small with 2x very small escorts. So i sent the same squadron directly to the second dogfight (so not going back to base between the 2 engagements)... No matter what happens the game CTD's when the engagement is over.
  11. http://i.imgur.com/TAydG.jpg So the forums uploader neither would accept imgur or imageshack... So you just get a link... If the soldier is not selected and/or you have the cursor over the soldier, they can be really tricky to find.. Good idea, thx
  12. Just had a CTD, when the game tried to load a ground combat and an air combat situation at the same time... Should there not be an option, where you can choose which engagement to take if they are perfectly simultaneous? And when an engagement happens, everything else in the game should be paused until that engagement is over (since there is no multiplayer, the universe can adjust to you in a single player game)?
  13. I get this bug for Xenonauts after searching the farm buildings on a field UFO crash sites... Trying to upload screenshot, but cannot get it to work? It goes to max. of the upload and then nothing...
  14. 1. I pressed the "build base" button by accident in Geoscape. 2. Then i tried to click on another management button next to it, and nothing happened, i tried pressing everything except on the map and nothing changed... 3. Then i pressed somewhere on the map and then cancelled the base position, but i could not cancel the pressing of the "build base" button. 4. I had to either build a base i did not want, or reload from a savegame. Suggestion: In my mind this should be something you simply cancel by pressing Escape. Also when you are in the inventory screen for a soldier (in Ground Combat) and press Escape, the game goes to the menu, and does not just leave the inventory screen, as in any other game i remember with an inventory screen. I do not know if it is intentional, that Escape take you to the menu, but normal gaming logic tells me it should take me one level out of where i am, with Geoscape as the final place. And if i am in a Air or Ground Combat situation then the main (Air or Ground) combat screen should be where you end up, before getting the menu. I also think the present application of the Escape button makes the game unhelpfully harder to manage, and means you are spending unnecessary time going through menus.
