  1. Just reloaded the turn, no freezes, moved to the next turn. ?? Nothing like intermittents to double the fun.
  2. See screen shot and files. output.log output.log_1.1b87bd6b319282feb4c00b4a0df2b3c6 auto_groundcombat_turn_5_start-340.json
  3. Sorry for the late reply. Yes, I can usually restart and play when this happens, including in this case.
  4. enough. I had no replies on that one. Puciek: I had a similar experience (see Jan 28th) with floating corpses in non-LOS (black) areas that were inside a ship and disappeared (were properly back inside the ship again) when one of my squaddies got close enough. No responses; apparently not a hot issue. Your screenshots: Your first imgur file didn't load for some reason , and the second worked, but the image was far smaller and lower res than the images posted through this forum (although, of course, "size does matter" to some extent--maybe your images were smaller?). As Mr.Alex suggests above, I would appreciate it if you would please drag your screenshot file directly into the message or into the "drag files here to attach" section just below this text section (or you can "choose files" in the Drag Files" section). I assume (after your 111 posts) you know all this, but maybe think imgur is better? If so, what's your thinking?
  5. Started game normally, clicked on "Continue," loading splash screen got up to 2% and stopped increasing--waited 4 minutes with no progress and exited at the "Keep waiting or close?" prompt. See files, if they are of any help. This has happened with almost all the iterations from time to time. output.log content_manager.state
  6. It can be helpful in planning who's going to do what, given their personal LOS, but things like more rational AI for for the NPC friendlies (like "touch and send" them back to the chopper) or more directional clues for out-of-LOS events would be higher priority for me, and I'm sure you have a much longer list.
  7. See screen shot and file. My guy (#1 in screen shot) shoots at the disk (#2 in screen shot but not shown since I blew it out of the sky, ha-ha!), which looked to be at about a 50-60 degree angle from him, but the animation shows him shooting straight up (used to happen a lot in the restaurant battle a few iterations ago). Looks silly. Not really urgent, of course. auto_groundcombat_turn_7_end-132.json output.log
  8. I think it's relatively new (?). When they appeared in X2, I never got the rebreathers since I didn't know about the conceal smoke penalty and never used the stun gas.
  9. Okay, got it, thanks. So it looks like we don't have "relative spotting," where we can only see the LOS of the unit chosen. How hard would that be to implement (if anyone besides me wanted it)?
  10. Oh, heh-heh, thanks [embarrassed]. I never clicked on "Tutorial," so...
  11. Yes! Thank you! Is there any amount of "safe" time before the smoke starts affecting friendly troops? And did I miss this info in the tutorial?
  12. I checked with my Magic 8 Ball, and it said: "Reply hazy, try again." Perhaps we will never know..
  13. See file. This is the third time one or more of my units have simply disappeared from the portrait list at the top of the screen and the game, without taking damage or any other indication of what happened to them. Once, the "dead" soldiers miraculously reappeared as alive again in the results screen summary. The other times I simply stopped playing the battle since I had lost two or more troops this way. The smoke can't kill them without any indication of damage, can it? I had thought I read of other players having this problem, but I don't see any problems of this type in 17.1. This pretty much makes battles into crap shoots. user_invisiblekiller1-7.json
  14. Thanks. What confuses me is when you say that the "alien was spotted in the current turn." The current turn in the screen shot includes the beginning where no soldiers have moved and no aliens have appeared, and then a single soldier (without LOS) turns, and--still without the soldier having LOS--an alien appears. Are you saying that one of the non-moving soldiers is assumed to have seen the alien from the very beginning of the turn, but that info only becomes visual when any of the soldiers--including those without LOS--move?
  15. Not sure if it's a bug (so no files), but thought I would get quickest answer in this section. I've never noticed this before on a first turn in ground combat, but then, I can be pretty oblivious. For me, that's a feature..
  16. See attached turn save file from beginning of battle, and screen shot. As my troops approached the alien craft but it was still out of LOS, the alien corpses inside the ship appeared in the no-LOS black area. The ship (with dead aliens inside) showed up normally when within LOS. user_z2-2.json
  17. See screen shot (doesn't show bug, just situation) and files (I have to check report protocol--files seem different recently). My guys had just placed and detonated their explosive in front of the ship's door. The explosion animation consisted only of the pink cubist effects. If anyone can do so in a sentence or two, what is happening in the code? Why do the pink growing-shrinking shapes replace the explosion sprites/animations? user_deadaliensoutofsight-3.json user_z2-2.json
  18. I was probably missing something for the past 400+ hours of play, but to back out of a Throw Smoke or Fire order, I have had to tab over to another soldier and then return to the original squaddie. Who cares about the pandemic and men with horns invading the Capital Building--I can cancel Fire orders!
  19. What's the magic search term for the little civilians (& armed guerrillas) controlled by AI? I couldn't find a term that worked for searching (yeah, I know, Remedial Search Terms next semester). I'll call them Non-Player Characters. **Is there a plan for what NPC behavior will look like in early release?** They've improved in that they don't stand in doorways or run in front of my troops during fire fights usually, but otherwise they could be roomba's that were held back in cleaning school.
  20. V 16.2b The early downed (small) saucer battlefields are a 99% improvement on previous iterations. More interesting attack approaches and ambush sites to defend against, more structures to worry about (although so far not much use of inside ambushes by aliens to guard against), less single aliens charging into open areas as a way to attack (although they still run into smoke rather than waiting at times--maybe those are the rookies?). Anyway, huge improvements to my gameplay. Thanks!
  21. Happy New Year (could it be worse? Oh...yeah, it can), and thanks for the response. I've had more freezes in the new iteration--I'm sure one of them will show up on your computer also."
  22. I don't know what happened--maybe the files will help. The aliens were taking their turn and the game froze. I was trying to move the camera away from behind the Hidden Movement graphic at some points, if that made any difference.. Am I seeing right? Is this iteration V15B? auto_groundcombat_turn_2_end-107.json output.log output.log_1.5de677eb172ca6c5519abdeb3691bcd8
  23. Thanks for the response. No, after it became enough of a bother, I stayed on the game and let the load screen take whatever time it wanted. However, I've found that doing an alt-tab to another program certainly decreases my boredom and doesn't seem to bother the game. It's all loaded up when I switch back a few minutes later.
  24. Hmm. I just realized that when the visible path that shows up prior to movement (when the number of movement points it will take is visible), the path may show that the unit will move through fire--even if there are other (safe) paths available. So I suppose you could say that the player is warned, but this is the first time I've noticed the pathing after hundreds of hours. Could it be the heavy drug use?
