It's interesting reading people's abstract thoughts on the changes, but I'd really like to hear from people who have actually played the new version

I've had a chance to load and play the 2.0 version. So far, I'm loving the weapons upgrade for the ballistic weapons. Being able to upgrade the laser weapons to have batteries has been great as well. The costs are a bit high, but I'm working with it.

The armor system upgrades have been awesome for me. I love the drop down for the modules, although I wish the menu didn't hide the popup information about the modules. I saw you were saying the modules would get artwork if you moved forward with this system, it would be cool so see that.

My only other functional critism would be on having duplicate engineering projects for the same upgrades involving the new alloys for aircraft and armor. They're the same thing according to the lore on the upgrades. So I'm curious, why're we having to pay for this one twice?

For the Cleaners maybe having more cells with smaller amounts of research earnable or having a cap based on how many cells you have cleared from the map. I tend to just do one of the 2 cells to get the research percentage started and let the time run out while dealing with the aliens to find their base. Then when I'm done with whatever alien missions I have queued I knock out the last cell and the main base back to back. The group just kind of feels like an afterthought to me.

    Hope this helps you guys.

  2. So, I'm going to stick to the missions/story side of things as others have posted a lot of what I thought about the different weapons, gear, armor, etc.

The Cleaners feel superfluous to me at this time. At the start of the game they have been operating and working against us for a while. The Xenos have been controlling them and making life difficult according to what I'm following from the opening and later missions to clear their bases/HQ. They feel like they're not a big concern for most of my recent games. I've outright ignored them in 2 different saves.

I understand they're supposed to be a terrestrial counter to us. Maybe increasing the amount of Anti-Cleaner missions we need to complete would fix this.

Is their a way to do like a counter terror mission where instead of the Xenos we're fighting their Cleaner minions? Do the Cleaners have access to any special weapons or xeno tech? None of the missions I've run have had anything other than ballistic weapons and none of them were even upgraded to the accelerated weapons. Maybe creating some specialist units for them would be a way to go? Or having some elite units using Xeno Alien or Plasma tech?

In Xenonuats there was a research notification talking about a leak in the science team. Maybe something along those lines where we're trying to track down a mole in the science/engineering teams? Then you could have a mission where we have to subdue and capture the spy or their handler to stop the data leak.

This would also be able to be used to help increase funding later in the game because now instead of being able to get our information or research and supplies through the moles they have to deal with us so we could get more money to handle our construction projects and other expenses.

I hope this helps give you a different perspective or some ideas as requested. I'm loving the game so far and it has been worth the wait for it and the money I spent to get it when it came out on Steam. Keep up the great work!

So I know I've been saying this for a while, but the Early Access really isn't more than a few months away now. The best thing to do is to wishlist the game on Steam or GOG because then you'll be notified about the launch when it happens.

We were also selling the game on Xsolla until about two months ago, but unfortunately we've now closed that down in preparation for the Early Access launch.

Thanks for the reply Chris. I’ll try to be patient.

  4. Hello,

I've been loving Xenonauts 1 and been kicking the aliens around in it. I've been looking and saw the Steam Page for EA to Xenonauts 2 showing the game as being available soon for access. From what I've found looking around it's been listed for a couple of years and can't be purchased. How do I apply or where can I purchase access for the Beta I see listed on the forum and Goldhawk website, as I've missed the kickstarter by a damn good margin?

Thanks for helping me out with some knowledge.
