That did seem to be the fault. The arrival of the engineers happened first then I clicked the "go to base" button and before it sends me there the research result screen popped up; I closed that then the small window appeared and I clicked that "go to..." button, which then causes the crash. Reloaded from the last save, problem happened a few times. I got around it by just clicking the OK button when the engineers arrived.

In my current game two events happen almost simultaneously: the interrogation of an alien officer ends, and 5 engineers arrive. I close the research window of the interrogation result, the engineers arrive then I assign them to the current project ( wolf armor ). I try tapping the ESC key so I can save the game and zilch, it doesn't work any more. Game version is V1.65W Stable.
