Experimental Build V19 Hotfix1!
Sathra replied to Aaron's topic in Xenonauts-2 Releases & Patch Notes
Anyone else noticed that troops in Buzzard jump ALOT? Pretty much every move over 5 tiles starts with a jump. Still, they actually use the jump so not much to complain about! -
Flares use grenade code, so they aren't actually thrown so much as fired. So they'll hit cover alot, unless the cover is in the tile directly next to the thrower. Yeah, its due to the ships actually being made of squares. I don't worry about it, and its saved lives on a few occasions. I've never noticed that. I think its due to the blast radius being so small, but I dunno. They can do it with grenades too and come out barely harmed. Was he wearing armour? Sound locating has been brought up alot. Might be too late now, and the hidden movement screen should focus on points where you can see the shots.

Depends on if I need to capture. If so, small launchers if I've got them fired at the roof/upper floor. Or I run a bunch of soldiers up the lift, gun down anything with a plasma weapon and run troops with stun rods to stand next to those with BBs (they won't fire if they can be hit with the blast). I usually use a Floater or Snakeman base for my Commander capture. Most of the time though I find the Commander wandering around the base so I bring mind probes and test everything that survives a plasma rifle shot (I try not to use HP) then bash it with a stun rod/small launcher it. Using smoke grenades lets you close in a bit more (they drop sight range about 5 tiles), and there's enough corners for a quick rush (since they invariably carry a BB they can't RF). If I don't need to capture (or its mutons) I just throw a HE pack up the elevator and gun down the survivors next turn.

Yeah, with the accuracy fix close-range shots miss a TON.

Updated both again, and it now includes Max_Caine's and A333's class analysis mod. Doesn't break saves but if you're continuing a game it'll send corpses to Research again for the project.

Woo! Didn't break saves. Updating now, and did some reformatting so its easier to read.

[Ideas/Planning]Gear Expansion Mod - And Possibly More to Come
Sathra replied to Geredis's topic in Modding Discussion
The Xenonaut shotgun is meant be be firing slugs (not buckshot) anyways. Its still being rebalanced so the damage isn't as good as it could be. -
The files won't open in excel for some reason. I can manage though.

[V19 HF1 - Ground Combat] FoW and Water
Sathra replied to Dranak's topic in Xenonauts Bug Reports / Troubleshooting
I think this a known issue. Water is just odd. -
[V18 Steam] Melee kill soldier progress?
Sathra replied to Miyuki's topic in Xenonauts Bug Reports / Troubleshooting
I think only Caesans will carry battle rifles. I usually get them from bases. -
I'll test it out.

Yes, and probably.

Tried Beta 18: Still needs a lot of work
Sathra replied to Sirandar's topic in Xenonauts General Discussion
Ah flares. They could really use their own GC sprite. -
The colour flare is back in with V19, though units behind 'buildings' (mesas count as buildings) still have problems being seen. Roof toggle to the rescue!

Screenshot should clear this all up.

Since you aren't using flying suits much, then no, there isn't much need for them. Chrissies aren't as common as Tentaculats in TFTD and without using flying much there isn't a need to blow holes in UFO's. You can still use HE packs, which are kind of like grenades, just really heavy and a huge explosion. Veteran troops can throw them like grenades anyways, though rookies will really have to make us of the timer to not kill themselves. And a HE pack on 1 turn delay works much better than a standard grenade for emergencies.

I give people 2 chances. Anyways, by the time I get to read the poor posts they've either cleaned up their act, stopped posting or both.

Oddly enough, removing the hidden movement screen in V19X has a result similar to this post. Since the screen will centre on points of activity its really alot like your troops are hearing and pinpointing alien locations. Half the time its useless though, since the screen is black with the shroud, but the rest of the time its close enough that there is some revealed terrain in view.

Adding stuff into researches.xml breaks saves alot. I think its adding stuff that should already be researched by the point of the game of the save that does it. Even if it doesn't, it'd simply be better to start a new game with it so players can get the full benefit.
