  1. Would I play a remake? Only if the game isn't a step back. I've seen a lot of sequels focus on better graphics and top voiceover talent. They pay for this by cutting parts of the previous game out. If 3D graphics means smaller maps, no, I would not buy a sequel. If it means fewer weapons, aliens, gear, etc., no, I would not buy a sequel. If I want a simplified XCom with 3D graphics Friaxis has that covered. If the sequel is a step forward, yeah, I'd buy it.
  2. Is there something special I'm supposed to do to get buzzard armor to work? Is it supposed to be automatic, like plot a path to the top of a building and the solider automatically flies there, or do I have to enter a specific command? So far the Buzzard armor has done nothing. My solider will just run up the stairs if I tell him to move to the roof of a building, and he'll walk around fences rather than fly over them. He's equipped with a precision laser rifle if that's any help. EDIT: I sent him to the roof of a building. He ran on foot the entire way, except he hovered up stairs.
  3. I recently ran into the problem of having a terror mission spawn beyond the range of my chopper. I had a small outpost with a hangar but no living quarters. I was hoping that my chopper would be able to fly to the base, stop for fuel, then continue to the terror mission, but if that's possible I didn't see any way to make it happen. As far as I can tell I would have needed living quarters and I would have had to transfer my troops and chopper there in order to extend the range. I'd love it if small refueling posts could be established around the globe to extend the fighting range of my troops, particularly early on when I don't have the resources to construct fully armed and staffed bases all over.
  4. Something that has always bugged me in Xcom, and bugs me in Xenonauts now as well, civilians and local forces run around like, well, idiots, and there isn't much my Xenonauts can do about it. I wish that my Xenonauts could give basic verbal commands to people we encounter so they aren't just running in circles like chickens with their head's cut off in the middle of a crossfire. Nothing detailed. I'm not talking about taking direct control over them, and it would actually be even cooler if these orders weren't always followed, but sometimes ignored by terrified civilians or enraged local forces. For example, if you make eye contact with a civilian an option to tell them to move to your chopper for safety, or hold position. Something like that. It always struck me as odd that I'd be sent to protect civilians but have no way to communicate with them and actually keep them safe beyond hoping they don't run into a hail of plasma fire before I kill everything. Also, I noticed that my stun weapons seem to outright kill civilians which is also a bit annoying. I wish there was some way to knock them out for their own safety. Kind of like how modern day SWAT forces will handcuff hostages to protect them as well as the SWAT team itself.
  5. So I shot down my first scout. I sent my team to it. We killed a single alien en route. The front of the scout is open and leads to a tiny room. I sent my troops in there. I sent them all around the scout. I've had them wait upwards of 5 turns. The match won't end. Am I missing something? Is there a door or something that leads to more of the scout? If so, I can't figure out where it is.
  6. I have all my games on Steam. It does everything I want. Desura is like MySpace. There's really no reason for it to exist. Nobody wants to be bothered dealing with Facebook and MySpace. I really don't want Desura on my PC in addition to Steam.
  7. I pre-ordered Xenonauts last January and I don't believe I had the option to request a Steam Key. I hate Desura. I mean I absolutely despise it. I'd much, much rather have a Steam Key when the game is released. Will I have that option or am I going to be punished for being an early adopter?
  8. In the description of the Chinook it says that if it is shot down all aboard are lost. Why? When I shoot down a UFO that's not the case. There's wreckage and survivors and gear leftover. What if the same happened when MY transport got shot down? Okay, so I send out my Chinook full of my best commandos and gear. Blam. It goes down. Now I have the option of sending a second team in. When I make my landing I get a message telling me how bad the crash is and the likelihood of there being survivors. Somewhere on the map is the shattered remains of my Chinook, along with scattered corpses, gear, incapacitated xenonauts, and perhaps even a few particularly resilient, albeit injured and outnumbered, xenonauts. The alien craft that shot them down or perhaps a separate transport is there to finish off my xenonauts. I have to fight my way to them. I win if I retrieve all survivors, including unconscious xenonauts, and return them to my Chinook, or if I defeat all aliens. Alternatively the Chinook is shot down and gone. There is a random chance that within the next few days a garbled message will be received from survivors of the lost team. This opens a rescue mission somewhere near the crash site. Wounded survivors are holed up somewhere and dangerously low on ammo, desperately fighting to hold off the alien onslaught. I think it would be an interesting change up and I might be less inclined to immediately reload a saved game upon losing my Chinook. A mission like that would be too damn fun to miss out on.
