1. What is the effective difference between pre-rendered 2d and 3d locked to that same plane that you'd 2d render to?
2. We actually have no idea what they mean by "open world" at this point. It's probably very much still mission based as trying to traverse an entire world one turn at a time is about the silliest concept I've ever heard. EDIT: I take it back, they said open world combat whatever in the email. So... yeah. I guess I am the silly one for assuming. I wonder how it will play. I am interested.
3. I was probably late to that discussion, but I am super hyped for this.
4.

Thanks for all the sweet art you commissioned. Fangs out is sitting on my desktop background right now.

5. Huh... So what's the benefit of the belt slots? (honest question, no sass intended) (not familiar with original xcom enough to know, haha)
6. "Right-click a target to spend more TU to improve shot accuracy" seems just fine to me. Just need to fix the verb.
7. Finally remembered I need to read this and HOLY crap is it good. About half way through, can't wait to see how it ends. Very well written.
8. Can't wait for release. Haven't been playing (since my Internet sucks and I don't want to redownload, plus y'know, want to play it with fresh eyes), so I am super duper excited for launch. Take your time, though, haha.
9. Here you go. Should be able to load this up, hit 4 and watch the fireworks. Here's the link.
10. If you send fighter out and they bump up against multiple enemy squadrons at once, you can have multiple battles happening at once. I had two or three sets of my own squadron, along with two or three of theirs. It always crashes when one of the battles ends. Probably because you have multiple outcomes.
11. Beta is going to be so amaaaaaazing. And alpha/beta have so many different meanings. They are almost meaningless, haha. ;p EDIT: PS: If this doesn't have a Mosin-nagant in it I'll be upset. ;p
12. I got it done, but I keep getting 500 errors. (shrug) Yay! I own the game now!
13. Oooooooooh. That does make sense. Never played it. It doesn't look worth my time/money. It is fun to watch people die mercilessly in streams, though, heh.
14. I dunno. If you just wanted to scare a bunch of people, crashing through people with your super tough space thing is bound to intimidate.
15. Mew: I think I agree with all of this. Well said. Thanks for that enlightening post, Mr. Hyde, care to expand a little?
16. Everything looks really beautiful. Hope I can get my hands on a copy soon.
17. I've seen plenty of hardcore gamers enjoying it. So it's not like it can't appeal to both "casual" and "hardcore" gamers. I don't think it's fair to say that it's a "bad xcom", but it's fine for you to not like it. (shrug) I also don't agree with the idea that added complexity is always added depth. That said, I do prefer games that allow lots of meaningful choices, like ufo defenses crazy micromanagement lets you do.
18. So I am wandering here b/c I am (hopefully) getting this for Christmas (from work actually, haha). So hopefully I'll be a familiar face around here soon. Love tactical games. NEED to play the original still. Have it in steam and just keep failing to get around to it. Wonder if I can make it work on Linux? (I game on my linux netbook most often due to logistics. Weird I know).
19. So this is good. It's two very different games. I think they can only help each other. Now I actually am interested in trying both, haha. Especially after buying the original on Steam. They look like aliens in disguise they way they are hunching.
20. Be careful with review builds. People like to read a review, then buy the game if they are interested. So sending out review builds right before a big release is usually the key there. Otherwise you get publicity, but not really sales.
21. So I honestly registered just to reply in this thread, haha. Had heard about xenonauts and need to buy it soonish. I was worried when I heard about the Firaxis remake as well. But it strikes me as a rushed bid to maximize on the hype. They are competing with you, yes. And you will need some extra marketing, but I doubt this will hurt you. I think it will help more than anything. I am honestly more excited for xenonauts than the xcom game (this from someone who has never played any of the x-com games). It just feels more compelling with the time period and everything. Just make the game you love, Chris. You will be okay.
