First mission, Africa. 1 alien captured, one killed. Score and soldier development came up fine, but crash on geoscape load.

@ice, can you point me to the XCOMEU fanfic? I've read some LPs but that's about it.
Oh, gods. I'll see if I can dig it up, but this was.. around 16 years ago. I'll see if I can find it. It might not exist on the webbernets anymore, or not have stood up to the test of time.

It does grant a very nice connection with the game. Especially with the #221 unlock! I was beginning to suspect more foul play when he was getting confused on the bridge. First instinct was that you'd made the dead grey trapped in his mind. (I read a lot of fantasy and 40k) which I wouldn't have liked as much as what actually was the case. It would have taken the book un-necessary further off from what can happen in game.
Overall I really liked it, though I didn't need it to be able to "get into" the game. I read some great fanfic back when UFOEU came out, so I'm already there.
Wouldn't mind having more of these to read. GO GO Xenonauts book series! -

The Xenonauts only recruit soldiers with major baseball skills. I thought this was common lore.

My first UFO (no lasers or plasma weapons afaik) landed on a farm. It revealed itself to be a sort evil shed with a high tech door. Dunno if it's because something's not done yet?
Driving a ferret through terrain did not crash the game, however upon going back to the geoscape the game crashed.

Hmmm....
The .50 Cal still looks wrong to me. The barrel should not get narrower towards the end, this is the biggest (perhaps only) flaw. I don't know what the rings on the barrel are suppose to do, but they aren't part of the Browning .50 CAL. I see no sights, but it's a vehicle mounted weapon. Looks to me like there is only half a charging handle, but it might be made to be mechanically charged. The .50 CAL pictured is right hand feed, which you would have when you have two .50 CAL HB MGs firing on the same trigger. The MG to its left would have a left hand feed, the common set-up.
Might not be standard set up though. Might not be a Browning at all. *shrug* I do not have an issue with it.

Missing islands aside, it looks really good. And fits very well with the overall art direction of the game.

While a gray icon would be nice, it seems to me that zzz1010's suggestion would solve the problem. Just turn down the 0.6 to 0.4 or 0.2, and the difference should be more apparent.
Yes. Maybe 0.6 is a bit much. Then again, one setting will never be perfect since monitors and gfx are different.

On the other hand a "Global Blackout" news report stating that all earth residents should turn off lights at night, in case of alien attack might save some time and money.
I like it. Only it would go tits up when you land on a terror site and all the lamps are on. Except you add another note, saying that the Xenonauts get the lights turned on when they land. That's a lot of time and text for something most people probably won't care too much about.

I'm fine with automagical take off of aircraft in the event of a base contamination. I don't want to fire hyper velocity rockets at or near a 300 million aircraft!
OT: Looks amazeballs! Almost looking forward to a base assault.

Yup, I'm pretty sure one of the goals here is total DRM freeyness. Kickstarter people love that, and it's basically a requirement if you want to use KS to fund your game.

I really recommend trying the stand alone download. However, with 17.5 Desura might work again.

CRC error in the zip file? Did you try to use third party software do decompress it? Windows' own unzipper is.. prone to not working properly.
