  1. I have to admit I am no Xcom vet, in fact I've played very little of it though I could see how it could be a timeless classic to many. But does X com have as much air combat as this version of xenonauts and will the final version of xenonauts have it? I was playing last night and did about Three ground battles after taking down several light scouts. I had build a second base and had most of the buildings in place but wanted to do more research but I need more ground battles and what's more I was starting to run a little low on funds. What happened was I got wave after wave of air attacks mostly fighters and got sick of these battles( I honestly don't care for the air combat its just small a diversion for me) they were coming several at a time and in fleets of three. I won most of the time in the beginning, but I never had any more crash sites for ground battles, what happened is I started to lose interest and got impatient with these tedious air battles and started losing fighter planes; in the end I built a couple more hangers and added planes but I wasn't earning anymore money, also I got a few terror sites much of the time I'd run out of fuel and have to head back and what happened was something unexpected I lost the game with a screen telling me the alien race took over earth- guess I stayed up late for nothing. How is this? I still had both bases most of my planes several soldiers all in tact, yet no ground battles to earn any money or discover any alien technology and I lost. Is this game going to be mostly air combat like this? And how are you suppose to earn any money if there are so far and few ground battles to be had? shooting down fighters and corvetts and heavy fighters doesn't seem to provide any money or generate funds. And had I continued I don't think I would have had another crash site. It was all air combat in the end. How do you handle these terror sites? As far as I could see there were no other options then to circle and patrol with fighter jets. And attack with them. Once I read that the terror site was nuked- so we got them somehow.

And it happened to me as well tonight with only the hidden movement screen and not resolving just froze on that screen and 10 minutes later I end up having to control esc and alt del out of the game- same exact problem as in the early builds. Sheez, I thought this was fixed long ago and never to return? This problem is from many patches ago. Is there going to be any AI in this game? As I last remember the the guy who was programming the AI hadn't even started programming it before he had to move and quit or something. And my soldiers never use their reaction fire even if I save APs. Also, the aliens only shoot and attack in reaction interrupt during my turn and all they do during their turn is run back and forth.
  3. Same has been happening to me (ground combat, 9.31) where it gets stuck in hidden movement. This is an old bug I remember in one of the earlier builds.

Just happened to me I was chasing (tailgating) UFO 1 and after following it to land over Russia I click on the UFO again to set it to engage and realized I couldn't or did have to so I hit cancel to close the window, it continued to follow a little more and suddenly the screen went black (my whole monitor) for about 3 seconds and CTD with the typical windows: this program stopping working error. At this point don't know if it matters but I am running windows 7 64bit with an ATI video card ( latest 7970, with latest drivers). I do know that certain games have problems with ati drivers and sometimes they are picky about nvidia but maybe setup has nothing to do with it since we 're only using standard VGA features at this point?
  6. Yeah, Chris, it does seem there are too many light scouts and I am aware that they won't create crash sites. I kept saying to myself, "Dam, another lights scout might as well let it go" but wouldn't want them terrorizing my earthly civilians.
  7. Played about two hours last night and all I got were scout and fighter craft in the geoscape. Took down at least 10 space ships but there were never any crash sites to land too. It got late and I went to bed. Should I have stated a new game after say five take ufo take downs?
  8. I also experience this crash to desk top in the geoscape last night and I believe it was June or July don't really know exactly when but it was after I had taken down a few scouts-never even made it to the ground, there were no UFO crash sites and UFOs kept escaping.
  9. Actually what's most important to me right now is getting rid of the ground combat hard lock bugs.
  10. Glad to hear this, myself. AI is on the top of my list along with varying ground combat tactical maps and decent art direction.
  11. Ok, NoIdidnt, I'll check out that workaround you mentioned. But I don't think we should go out of our way to advertise it and have it go public yet. A lot of people are going to be discouraged and even turned away at this point. If they need alpha testers, I think the only way to do that is through word of mouth or suggesting it in the right forums which I'm doing a little of myself. They need to know right off that it is a work in progress in its beginning stages, that it is a bare sketch and will have some game stopping bugs though it shows great potential. Also, I do remember someone saying in the forums and others agreeing that it was in beta and would be released soon maybe as soon as early/mid 2012 and that was probably right before I got in the pre-orders. Sorry Golom, NoIdidnt, guess I'm losing patients.
  12. Wow, we've gotten way off topic here and going into some brown nosing. Stock shares and advertising for pre-orders now? You all talk like its going to be the next Homeworld or Jagged alliance II that people will be playing and modding till time immemorial. We are a long way off from that. Come on supporters,fans, lets get real: The game is not currently playable at v9. It has no AI because what little it had was removed to put in a basic AI...later, which is causing it to crash every time you encounter an alien. Which by the way, how is this particular bug -which totally makes loading this Alpha pointless- and the next update coming along? I'm sorry but I think there has been very little done since 8.0 to get this excited and draw conclusions already. And there has been some kind of a lockup or crash problem in ground combat in every update. Yes it looks like it could be a good, even great game but there is very little to judge it on in the current state it is in, what with no AI and in all intents and purposes really only one battle map. I'm eager to see it be a little more playable and fleshed out where its actually going to not freeze up in the middle of a ground battle and it looks like these new maps and random generated maps are ways off as well. I see the same map every time with the buildings laid out in the same way. I remember people in this forum saying it was already it beta and would be released maybe in the middle of this year. That's right before I pre-ordered and this is just not the case.
  13. Yeah, I'm curious as to if you knew when the next build/patch will be out. I can't get past my second saved ground battle without it freezing up at the alien ship. They of course are going to react. Is anyone else playing v9? I mean I'd have to start a new game every time and never get anywhere with bases and research.
  14. Same happened to me during a reaction from the enemy alien. Everything froze but the cursor had to restart my computer. this was during the second ground battle.
  15. It looks nice. I did have a lock up on my second battle though. It was during Ground combat and the alien must have spotted me and was reacting. I could move the cursor around but the map and the UI were froze. I had to restart my computer.
  16. They even die like aliens ( same death rattle ) as if they had disguised themselves as civilians

  18. I tried tonight and it kept locking up on me in the ground combat right after hitting the turn button. I still have the cursor to move around but I can't do anything in the screen I had to ctr-alt-dte and once had to restart my computer. Also, since 8.5 I it takes forever to get a ufo to crash near my base they keep flying off into space or out of range, out over the sea and disappear. I wasted a night- hour and a half -because UFOs were sited and the gone. How do I keep them in my continent or lure them over? They seem to fly within the margin and then out into no where.
  19. Sound like a good plan! I am eager to see the new alien AI and the terrain is something I've been wanting to see evolve as well. Good luck and merry Christmas.
  20. Its an old bug that needs to be reported since its still in the latest 8.2 also I did name it quite clearly except I forgot to put 8.2 in the title. (Did you really have to put your face in your palm just for that?) And I don't see it anywhere in your "Master Bug Thread" anyway.

Build 8.2: During ground combat after I ended my turn the enemy turn or resolve wouldn't end and I was stuck in the "hidden movement" screen it stayed this way for about five or more minutes and I had to ctl alt delete. On a good note the enemy seems more challenging and I like the downed space ship.
  22. Ok, thanks, sounds like a good concept. I haven't had a chance to really play this build. I just wanted to check out some of the new features real quick. But yeah, this wasn't in x-com defense(I can just go in and research lasers before I even have my first mission), nonetheless I like it better this way, it adds another layer where you have first discover the technology and then fight fire with fire.
  23. I installed 8.2 the other day and remember it being listed in the thread that there would be a research tree in this build. When I go to my base and click on the research tree nothing comes down, it is as it was before in 8.1. Did this have to get left out for some reason and did you mention it after or am I just looking in the wrong place. Do I need more money before I can see it, more bases?
