  1. So, today I opened the game and all my saves have gone. It was working last night, 4 April. No updates today, so why is this happening??? Several weeks of play LOST.
  2. Updated to the latest 1.31 build. In ground combat, screen keeps crashing to black, esp when firing through smoke, or throwing smoke grenades. But, I can still see the tool bars etc, just not what is actually happening. Can save and reload and graphics will restore but it crashed back to black as soon as I start shooting anything. How can I uninstall 1.31? Everything was working before. OH YES, the game keeps adding an Iron Man campaign save game. I'm playing on the easiest setting, not Iron man. see crash logs crash.dmp error.log output_log.txt
  3. Hi Chris, First, I love the way X2 is developing. Second, I have a request to cater for Australian Cold Warriors (i'm 65). Back in the 1960's an Australian children's author named Ivan Southall created an Australian version of Biggles, called Simon Black. Simon was a WW2 era airman who, after the war, developed a rocket-powered aircraft called Firefly. The aeroplane had rotary blades in the wings powered by electric motors so could take off and land vertically, the main rocket engines were of a secret type, and the whole aircraft was produced by an Australian Govt secret facility and the only country which could field them was Australia, by the RAAF.

I would love it if, should the player set up a base in Australia, the Firefly is made available as a special aircraft. Maybe with marginally better capacity than the "standard" fighter in the game?

Actually, as I write this I am thinking Why Not have country specific fighters for the UK, USA, and Russia? eg setting up a base in the UK give you the Electric Lightning, in the USA, maybe the Starfighter, and of course a MiG for the USSR? Each country could have slight differences between the aeroplanes (not too much so as not to bugger up play balance) but maybe enough to male a player prefer one country to another to get better tactics?

If you like the idea and want some artwork for a Firefly, let me know. BTW, Ivan Southall's relatives live near me, I dont think there would be any problem getting their permission if it was still needed after all this time.

  4. I have been following the posts about adding more to the old Xenonauts game. I agree with the Devs. When a new game comes out it is almost always better and the old one no longer appeals. When Xeno 2 arrives I am sure it will be a big improvement. Far better for our Dev Team to work on the new one than try and gild the old one. Just one request from me. I would LOVE to see Xeno 2 incorporate the soundtrack/music of the very first 1990's XCOM game. This is probably impossible due to copyright issues, but can you either spend some time keeping the CREEPY atmosphere of Xeno, or even get the guy who scored the music for UFO Defense to do yours? PLEASE don't ever go for a "rock" soundtrack!! Kim in Australia
  5. Seeing Paul's post triggered a question I have for anyone who may know the answer. Is it possible to mod XENO to add any of the music from the very first XCOM Enemy Unknown game (1990's)? That music was so creepy and atmospheric, especially playing in a darkened room in the small hours sliding past midnight. Xenonauts is, in this area, much better than the new XCOM games, but "... I still love that old time rock and roll" Kim
  6. Hi All, I've already raised some of this as a wish list with Goldhawk already, but wondered what the community thinks. First, recall or look up these books and TV/movies - the TV series The Invaders, Robert Heinlen's sci-fi book The Puppet Masters, the three Professor Quatermass movies, and, finally THE THING (the Kurt Russell version). I am hoping X2 stays firmly in the 1970's Cold War era, but I would love to see some introductory scenarios where the troopers have to deal with small villages which have had many of the occupants assimilated or taken over (mind-controlled or actual parasitic infestation) by aliens. The troopers' task is to investigate, and clean up the mess if possible. Maybe the infested humans are colder than normal, and the troopers have to get close to examine them with an IR scanner. AND, I would like to see it possible for the player's own troopers to be infected too BUT for the player not to realize this (ie the player is using the trooper normally) until the alien decides to break out (this MAY even take place back at a Base????) NOTE! An "upgraded" Medical Facility should be available in the tech tree to allow for advanced screening of troopers. Alien Infestation could lead to some REALLY paranoid moments. I could even see a situation where the player's infected base has been so badly infested that there is an option to nuke it, sterilise it, and rebuild elsewhere. What do you think? Kim
  7. Can't say I've ever seen anyone in the SAS, the Paras, or the Royal Marines ever feeling the need to carry around fire extinguishers. Even those pussies in the Green Berets just let things burn and get on with the killing. I think I'd rather see the programmers working on more exciting weapons or armour options, or thinking up some more devious aliens, than sidetracking into providing fire extinguishers. Sorry, Edward, they just dont get me excited. Kim
  8. Hi all, I am new to this forum but have been playing Xenonauts for a while. I'd logged up over 1,800 hours with the new XCOM and got bored. Xenonauts is a refreshing change and I think on the whole I like it more - the dev team has nailed the flavour of the old XCOM and also nailed the creepyness and the 1970's atmosphere. One thing I ESPECIALLY like is that the Terrans cannot use psionics. I really hope that this does not change - the aliens need to keep SOMETHING that we cannot ever copy. But, looking to the future, I think the "game engine" would be a great vehicle for resurrecting a game I loved to play years ago, the Avalon Hill board game of STARSHIP TROOPERS. If you have only ever seen the movie, forget that. The movie was junk. The original book and the AH board game were really excellent. I have already suggested the idea to Chris E, but I think his hands are full just now and he has no plans to take it on. BUT, if anyone else thinks a turn-based ST - where two-player games would pit the Terrans against the Bugs in a PBEM mode - would be a good idea, say so here. If the Dev Team sees enough interested people then it MAY get a slot in the future "games list", and that would be enough for me. cheers Kim
