  1. Hi all, I recently got Xenonauts 2 and I am really enjoying it - good story and good QoL compared to the old games (have played most since the original X-Com). One thing that however does bother me a bit is the use of cover - especially around corners. Normally you would hug the corner for cover and support for your weapoin to be able to shot straight along the wall - however the current implementation requires you to step out into the open to take those shots. This makes the infantry movement unrealistic compared to how a section normally would utilize movement, cover and supporting fire. I would also suggest that the cover penalty is differentiated between having an obstacle simply between shooter and target and an obstacle that is actively used for cover. Futhermore that the obstacle cover is increased further if you are crouching to reflect the time spent to get into firing position -> slower advance, but better cover. Futhermore using an obstacle for cover should also increase your precision as you can steady your weapon - this is just as valuable as the cover offered. So something like: 1) Obstacle in line of fire: % x 1.0 reduction (current implementation) 2) Obstacle used for cover standing: % x 1.5 reduction + 10% increase in accuracy (similar to crouching in the open) 3) Obstacle used for cover crouching: % x 2.0 reduction + 20% increase in accuracy I believe that this would create a more realistic use of cover in the game and the tactical choice of speed of advance vs. survivability - numbers can of course be tweaked to get the right overall difficulty. Futhermore it could also be made possible to hide behind full cover by crouching and turning its back to it (no forward vision) - maximizing self protection in a forward position if you are covered by others soldiers. Lastly I think that the line-fo-sight against snipers on a roof is too good - I have lost soldiers crouching in the middle of a roof to aliens shooting from positions where I believe the view should be obscured (is the height of the hit box changed when crouching?). There is very little benefit in moving your sniper to a roof as they do not get much better view and is more vulnerable - laying prone is not implemented (and probably should not be to keep it simple), but crouching on a roof could provide automatic obstacle bonus against targets at a lower elavation to similate this. Otherwise keep up the good work on an excellent game!
