[V18(steam build) - after combat ] Hey you stole my gun or pay me for that

just noticed that when my soldiers grab a plasma rifle from the cold dead hands of the xeno's and I complete the mission. I dont get paid for those guns and I dont get to keep the guns what happens to them?

I believe you can keep it after a certain research, but i have to take a look into that.
