Tryphikik Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 (edited) So I only picked up Xenonauts since beta, I did a brief search and couldn't find anything on this subject so sorry if you've seen it before. To the point, when crafting items is there any reason to craft more than one at a time? The only difference i've really noticed in bulk crafting is that it simply delays how long until you start actually seeing any benefit. So for instance with the first armor upgrade if you want a few armors and devote all your engineers to crafting them, if you craft 1 at a time you get it after 2 days, if you craft 3 at a time you don't get a single one until 6 days(correct me if I am mistaken). Is there something I am missing, is there a reason to ever do things in bulk besides laziness? or does doing things that way actually just hurt you(delaying how long until you get the first item)? Edit: Thanks everyone for the clarification, apparently I just was confused because when you are doing things in a bulk it doesn't say when one piece is completed so I assumed they weren't completed until the end. My mistake. Edited June 7, 2013 by Tryphikik Quote
Hadrian Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 You get your "units" as they are created when made in bulk. You dont have to wait the entire time stated, thats TOTAL time taken to create the entire batch not just one unit. For instance if you set it to 10 armors, at 10% complete you would get the first unit. Quote
Ziggarius Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 You would be incorrect. That's the total time to build all of them, it will add to inventory as they complete each individual item. So, your example of 1 item takes 2 days, and 3 items takes 6 days. That would mean on day two of the bulk order you would get your first item, on day four you would get your second item, and on day six you get third and final one where it then removes from the workshop list. Ah, that is good to know... so in that case the only difference in crafting 1 or 10 armors, would be that you won't get a popup everytime one is finished if you do the 10? Quote
flashman Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 manufacturing has ended message will only pop at the end or you will get a paused message if you are broke, Quote
cybrbeast Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I think it would be a nice addition that if you produced in bulk the individual item production time would go slightly down. For example, you make ten suits of armor, after the two first finish, the next take 5% less time to complete, after the next two 5% again until some cutoff is reached. If you cancel the bulk and shift production it would be reset again. I think this makes logical sense as production does get more efficient in a real workshop as the workflow improves. Quote
