Thread: There will be Dust, Jungle and Snow Maps? maybe with sound?

    Cool There will be Dust, Jungle and Snow Maps? maybe with sound?

    i hope so
    what about a light sound in a background?
    jungle sounds like this and on a snowmap we can hear footsteps when a soldier is moving like this?

    this brings a bit more life to the maps.

    its just an idea

    Ambiance has the trouble of not mixing well with background music - it's generally a one-or-the-other issue, and the way things are now, it's looking like we're going the BGM route.

    Although jungle ambiance always adds a fun Predator/MGS3 spin on things.

    Maybe an option to choose a toggle between ambiance and BGM in-game? Or just use the creepy-alien BGM for more significant missions like urban areas and base assault/defense missions, while using ambiance for low-intensity missions out in the boonies? Sounds neat.

    There will be desert maps for sure and tundra maps (ie. Siberia etc) are likely. Jungle maps would be a bit harder and is unlikely. Vegetation is difficult to do well.

    Not to mention horrible visibility on jungle maps would make them a nightmare on Iron Man difficulty.

    That's very true. Will miss being able to set a whole map on fire with a small number of explosives though.
    Common wisdom proposes that at minimum 60% of the field of engagement should be rubble and/or on fire. As such the munitions budget has been increased 50%. Operations debriefs have shown that 15% is insufficient for current combat requirements.

    I can tell you that the night missions will have creepy sfx/music. Its not music like in the day time, but more likely distant sounds, and pads. Diablo 2 like in the Xenonauts world. You could have some processed wind sounds, etc... Still in construction though. I have 4 finished tunes for this part of the game. But, since its not tested yet, we ought to see if it works well.

    Oh please add jungle maps! No need for them to be a tangled maze of vegetation, just a number of one-piece "islands" of destructible obstacles, and some "hedge rows" in between.

    They managed to do this in original game, after all.

    Again, Predator and such.

    oh and we could have one where the UFO has landed in the middle of a fair, and you have to ride the ferris wheel to get to the UFO...

    But seriously, there'll be plenty of fun, awesome, relevant maps, don't you worry! Just look at the effort put into the industrial tile set
