Post-Steam Development Process

Recommended Posts

And everyone can believe this or not. =)

A company that does go bankrupt (or whatever) doesn't necessarily have that degree of control over what gets done... or the funds to develop patches for thousands of games on countless engines.

It's life. There are no guarantees. *shrug*

They wouldn't need to release a patch for all games, they'd just need to release a patch for the Steam client.

Games that actually use online and multiplayer functionality from Steam would need to be specifically patched to work without it, but the thousands of games that literally just need to ask, "Hey Steam client, am I allowed to execute?" will be just fine if Valve changes how the client determines the answer to the question.
