I got this funny bug when loading game with crashsite on geoscape. The menu in geoscape insisted that my crashsite has escaped to space :o.

Ofcourse the was no sign of said crashsite. Maybe it really escaped to space ?

The same thing happened to me when I loaded up a saved game and quit from Ground Combat.

Edited to add: scratch the "loaded up" bit; it seems as this bug can be reproduced by quitting from Ground Combat, period.

I suspect this is part of the same bug that I encountered.

Sent three fighters to engage a Scout. Missed. Two F-17(?) destroyed. Got message that my "Mig32-32 escaped to space." Wonder if the Russians knew it had that capability?

Hmmm. So quitting the GC causes the crashite to escape to space. But loading a saved game with a crash site present also makes said crash site disappear into space?

No. When you're in GC and load a geoscape save from just before the mission, you basically quit your current GC, so the message about crash site escaping to space appears (after the game loads which makes for a confusion). The site is still there after loading.

I get this too when loading a geoscape save with a crash site already on it.

I've got a save where it happens consistently, but can't work out how get the .sav file to attach to the post...

Due to the forum not recognising .sav as a valid file extension, you need to change it to something more congruent, such as .txt. Another way to go about it would be to zip the save state.
