raziel1981
I just remembered the other day that their was suppposed to be a flame thrower in the game and i didnt see it so far(although i'm just at the light scouts stage in this build). Do they still exist in the game ?
GizmoGomez
Good question; where's my flammenwerfer?

erutan
iirc the animation guy left so there's no animated spread/splash for it, so it's on hold for now.
raziel1981
yeah i read that part as well. I was hoping to hear any update regarding that issue
Buzzles
Well, Chris is on holiday for ten or so days, so you'll have to hold on a bit longer.
raziel1981
after a year on this ride, 10 days are peanuts
thothkins
I remember seeing it and the assault shield in the pics and looking forward to equipping them. Fingers crossed.
StellarRat
Wouldn't it be rather easy to adapt the flames from the rocket explosion into the correct pattern for the flamethrower? That's not much of a leap. Just remove the explosion and reshape it. You still want all the smoke too.
raziel1981
StellarRat - seems like a decent solution to me
Chris
Yes, the animator doesn't work freelance any more so the only possible solution is to use the existing flame animation...but I'm not sold on that. Maybe we'll try it towards the end of beta, it's not our highest priority really.
Akavit
Hopefully the flamer gets in eventually because incendiary ammo was always my favorite in XCom regardless of its relative lack of effectiveness. thothkins
well, at least it isn't dead. No other freelance animators out there, that would meet the budget, he typed hopefully?
StellarRat
Chris - I know an animator. She still a student, but close to graduating. If you are interested I can ask if she can finish it. I'm pretty sure she'll work cheap. Besides, it doesn't sound like a big project.
Sathra
As long as its dramatic and shocking to see I'll be happy. If the first words out of my mouth after firing one are 'holy crap!' I'd qualify it a success. Also, wouldn't there be 2 flamethrower animations needed? For the alien one as well.
thothkins
So that's one awe inspiring sweep of flaming death for the Xenonuats and a bic lighter for the aliens, then. Yay! cue someone posting the bic lighter of death.
Gauddlike
The same animation could be used with a different tint to the flames to show the difference in fuel source.
