TrashMan
of course it has to have a love interest since its a Hollywood film Kill it with fire. Actually, kill it with EXTERMINATUS! It's one of hte reasons I dislike the short Halo series that just came out. It was a cliche stacked upon a cliche. Kentaro
I think the whole "The Unit" cast would be rather cool, including the Colonel and all. Although I wouldn't go with 20 soldiers, I think a squad of 6-8 would be better off. I'd be more interested how the plot would be line for a 2-3 hour movie. awesomnius
For a Xenonauts movie, it'd be nice to see a film adaptation of Lee Stephen's book, the Iceland Incident. I loved the story for it and honestly, being a "Prequel", it leaves you open to a bunch of sequels.
Pinetree
Peter Jackson would be cool if he was in a Bad Taste kind of mood, he's getting a bit bloated these days. Otherwise Neill Blomkamp of District 9 fame would fit the bill. For special effects I'd go with WETA as those guys are just plain nuts and are hugely creative. Not that I'm biased or anything. thothkins
George Romero... he could help with resurrecting this thread from the grave where it lay for a couple of months. Stuart Gordon likewise. But what would the scope be:- - 24 hours in the life of a unit - end of month so obligatory terror mission. - A cut scene month in Xenonuats as they get to the last stage of the research. So you're left as they go to Not-Cydonia. - The Not-Cydonia mission with flashbacks. - New recruits joining the organisation as it is on the brink of defeat. No need for Glumness indoctrination. - POV of Berlin/ Warsaw resident who sees the invasion as just a continuation of the invasions that have made up the entire century. What key things would you have to have Alien containment Caesian on a farm New weapons coming out of the workshop Interception Not-Chrysallid attacks
Commissar Pancakes
Talk about a thread bump... If it actually is made, it might be the first movie I see in theaters again in 8 years.

Commissar Pancakes
Internet. Internet and a fantasy-football type thing about assembling the most badass (and expensive) PC as possible.
The_Washbourne
What if the movie starts off showcasing a well rounded mid early game squad, clearing out a UFO. Then the squad is deployed on a terror mission, and gets wiped out leaving a handful of Rookies to take their place, With maybe a single veteran from the first squad to lead them. If it was established that xenonauts have nicknames, then ironically, the veteran's callsign could be New Guy, as he was once the greenest member of the squad, but now he's the senior officer. Mostly the film would be about trying to capture that feeling of losing your A-List squad and starting over with whoever happens to be standing around back at base. thothkins
One that crosses my mind 200ADs Bad Company. A new guy joins a company refreshing it's numbers towards the end of the war. The Company is feared by the locals, never mind the enemy. We get to see our protagonist come to learn the history of the other troops, and see his perspective change as he finds out more about the war/ becomes more like them. A while ago, we had a thread about hiring slightly more experienced troops. Well, this would be like going on a terror mission, losing a few Xenonauts, but nabbing the local militia to make up the numbers. Those who go on to survive as more than fodder become Company. Then think about how all the alien technology interfacing with Xeno-equipment would look to someone new. How would people who have seen the breeding vats in an alien base/ alien atrocities and mutilations in the name of science look to someone who had just been trying to defend a city and hadn't seen a larger picture? The finale is the final assault.
Assoonasitis
I can put together a movie dream-team better than the OP. Director/ Writer: Joss Whedon. This movie calls for an ensemble cast, and whether you like him or not, Whedon does ensemble well. Producer: J.J. Abrams/ Bad Robot Productions Composer: Alan Silvestri. Cast: Woody Harrelson, Michael Rooker, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Pine, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. These guys are all a bunch of fantastic actors and you've got some coverage for career soldiers, guys in it for a chance to be a hero and hapless conscripts. No bad guy other than the aliens, really. We're on the losing side of the war as the film opens, but our dream-team learns to work together to save the day. BOOM.
Commissar Pancakes
Hey now, don't forget to throw in some of the ladies. Can't remember how many times the women on my assault teams kicked ass while the guys ended up as liquid meat.
Corporal Hicks
Whatever you guys do , don't cast Ray Liotta
Commissar Pancakes
Cast Shiloh LaBeouf as a red shirt that is the first one to die. Horribly. Possibly by a Reaper.
Assoonasitis
The only lady suitably bad-ass that I can think of would be Cobie Smulders. Throw her in there for fun I guess.
Corporal Hicks
One lady I enjoy watching doing "man jobs" and bad ass characters is Julianne Moore
thothkins
Somehow, I thought you would have went with Sigourney Weaver
Corporal Hicks
Somehow, I thought you would have went with Sigourney Weaver Hahaha, back in the old days, sure!!! Nowadays, not so sure
thothkins
Is there much of an age difference between Julianne Moore and Sigourney Weaver? H-Ya! IMDB-Fu tells me Weaver - 1949, Moore - 1960. Well, I never. I thought Weaver was much younger when she was in Alien.
Commissar Pancakes
Have her play an extra in the first terror mission scene where you can see her beating a Sebillian with a pipe wrench?
TrashMan
No, we would need her for a Worf Barrage /Worf Effect
