monoko Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Coz it doesn't really serve a purpose other than nostalgia, instantly skipping to player's turn with an MMO style combat log of the hidden movement events would cut down on time wasted Quote
Dowly Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 I'm starting to think the other X-COM reimagining might be more suitable for you. Quote
monoko Posted September 30, 2012 Author Posted September 30, 2012 I'm starting to think the other X-COM reimagining might be more suitable for you. 5-10 mins for each terror mission turn seems way too long Quote
Mathalor Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 I do wonder sometimes why the hidden movement phase takes the same amount of time when I can see the action as when I can't see the action. Quote
Dowly Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 5-10 mins for each terror mission turn seems way too long I agree. But Xenonauts is still in alpha phase as you know. Quote
Gauddlike Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 When the AI has been added in and optimised then the turn times should start coming down. Quote
gnarly Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Also monoko see these for other discussions around this: http://www.goldhawkinteractive.com/forums/showthread.php/2645-Hidden-movement-or-boring-me?highlight=hidden+movement http://www.goldhawkinteractive.com/forums/showthread.php/2389-Directional-Indicator-for-Heard-Events-in-Ground-Combat?highlight=hidden+movement Quote

Thann Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 I think when it is optimized, the hidden movements will not take much longer than they need because of their calculation. That means a combat log would not speed anything up in comparison to the hidden movements screen. I don't really understand what a "combat log of the hidden movement events" would show. You didn't see anything / Something happened somewhere / I think I heard an alien ... no it was the Chinook engine. Perhaps you could show the things, that are implemented by sound at the moment. A door opened / I heard a shot / Something burns here / That was a civilian screaming. But in this case I prefer the hidden movement screens and the sounds. It adds more tension and you really have to be attentive to hear something, that could help you (like burning fires or door sounds). Quote
