Name Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 We've all broken the stairs at least 5 times. So what I propose is a portable ladder. It is lost when the mission is over. Takes 20 ap to set down. 30ap to throw and another 10ap every 1 height. And maybe there is a chance it will fall? Quote
Gorlom Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) Why would you throw the ladder? (Hmm I have a feeling my language skills are lacking here. Is that what you call it when you lean the ladder against an object/building you want to scale?) and how are you breaking the stairs? missiles? grenades? gunfire? or is it a bug that occurs when you try to use them'? Gauddlike Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Wouldn't the planned mantling feature make this unnecessary? No need for a ladder if your troops can climb up a single level, unless the ladder reaches more than a single floor of course. I was assuming a rope ladder when throwing was suggested, you would need to get it into position somehow. Quote
Name Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 Dang sleep deprivation. Time to clarify. So whenever my troops throw a grenade I want to destroy everything except stairs. Once I had an alien stuck upstairs I had to w8 5 turn for the game to end it was miserable. And I imagine it will only get worse when plasma/laser guns arrive. As for throwing the ladder it would be a rope ladder you could throw it to the top of a building to gain an advantage over enemies and increase you Los safly. Hope this helps. Quote
snowburn Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) in the next update you should be able to destroy buildings Edited July 23, 2012 by snowburn Quote
dekamme Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) Ok, I'm missing something. I've seen the stairs in buildings, but when I instructed my Xenonaut to move onto them, he "disappeared" into the stairway sprite. So I thought, ah well, it's just for looks. Also, when I press the 1st level button (2nd level for those nations who don't start floor level count at 0) my view of the building doesn't really change - admittedly I've only tried this outside. *edit* your destructible buildings comment made me think about something: what happens when you shoot out ALL the ground level walls of a building? Name Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 In the net update the. Uilding will fall. MWAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHA! Ehhh a ladder sounds fun but owell Quote
mace6442 Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Once you shoot a given % of walls in the comming patch(S) the building will collapse all floors above the destroyed walls and killing anyone or anything luckly enough to be monging it in there. Quote
dekamme Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Oh that sounds nice! Seems I haven't reached the "dev blog/upcoming" section yet. This site navigates way too slow for my info hunger. Quote
Gorlom Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Stairs should probably (imo) have a load-bearing property and reduce the amount of walls you need to shoot out. Not for realism but for gameplay mechanic reason,s ( because it is annoying to screw yourself, and having to waste so much ammo to get that alien above your current floor ). Quote

jars_u Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 No need for a ladder if your troops can climb up a single level So if you manage to blow up the stairs in a building you will still be able to climb up/down a level then? Quote
Gauddlike Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 That was a planned feature, don't know if it is still on the board though. At least once you have the jump armour you should be able to poke holes in the wall and hop straight through. Quote
Dix Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 This is where an incendiary grenade/flamethrower is your friend - just toast the building and let the cowardly alien scum burn! Quote
