[v 1.60 OS X] - garbled window/screen after I hit "play game"

Hi

as soon as I hit the "Play Game" button:

1. a black screen shows up (windows or full screen makes no difference);

2. Music starts;

3. A garbled screen appears (windows or full screen makes no difference), which is mainly white with some garbled image fragments (see attached screen shots); the images semm to be consistent through relaunches of the game until I change resolution settings. The screen/image seems selectable/clickable as I can see the mouse cursor (as an arrow) and can hear the nice retro click sound when selecting. Couldn't say if you actually can select anything. Once, while random clicking the window closed: maybe I hit the quit button (if there is any) or the game crashed (without error message).

Any suggestions would be more than welcome.

PS: I tried to disable the antivirus software (Sophos), I trashed and reinstalled the game as suggested in the frequent bugs thread.

OS version: OS 10.6.8

machine: MacBook Pro, 15 inch, early 2008, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, $ GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, GeForce 8600M GT 256 MB VRAM

Yes, I know: it's a very old machine.

Ooh, I have the same issue with 1.61, on the same OS version and basically the same hardware.

I believe I just published an update to Steam with a fix to this issue. If you still have any issues like this please post your detailed system information which can be found via Steam->Help->System Information. Thanks.
