I havent played much ground battle so go easy on us.

Get it from the steamgroup, make sure to download the bug fixes. Test Version is available too. Quickbattle has ceased to exist, so just put the autoresolve values to 10000 and autoresolve, etc ... . I think you will find your way around.

They are 2 completely different games. Its up to you what you like.

I would suggest you get the alpha release from the steam group and warm yourself up with it until the Aircraft Expansion comes along, and some more bug fixes.

You can play the 0.98 version too but its another game, period.

Frankly, i would suggest veteran difficulty in all cases. It has been balanced for veteran and thats the way its meant to be played.

But you can also play it on normal.

Never mind losing a campaign, you will just come back stronger :D and show the aliens who is the boss.

Since the Aircraft Expansion has been finished, apart from some weapon images and the heavyintercptor the game has the following main points left to be worked on:

  • Xpedia (we wont go into the 1.00 beta state before the Xpedia isnt top notch)
  • Strings
  • Economic Balance
  • Every Bug and Exploit fix we can find

Apart from that I have this singular task list as well:

Pre 1.00 Version:

Make the crazy good endgame idea happen

Make the new Strings and Xpedia entries for the Aircraft Expansion

Check if ALL the vehcile weapons are working

Rebalance armour manufacture requirements

Check if Datacore gets used up for the research

Navigator/Pilot/CruiserCommander/FleetCommander interrogations dont have any links anymore

Explain that you can launch Aircrafts with 25% health and fuel now ?

Explain that whole earth coverage is necessary if you dont want to lose countries. Big starting money but you will be dry soon.

Assign all manufactures to appropriate categories

Explain that crshsites grants 0.5 the shotdownbonus value if completed

Set Mothership Stats

Fix wrong Ufocontents

Explain to put the manufacture ratio into the name

Fill up the FillSlot in Manufactures.xml

Check Alien Base DSB items

Mothership can do any mission ? Should be capeable of

Revise the ***AlienSystem Sell Prices

Revise the Datacore Sell Prices

Replace Berzerk with Paralysis

Revise the whole Psi Combat

Xpedia Entry for Specialists. Research Requirement is any of 2 specialists in its phase ?

Fix Vehilce Manufacture Requirements

Add Vehicle Requirements to the Manufacture files after the alpha test (Drone Corpses, andron parts, ... )

Check Chemical DSB for cores

Get a good idea about side weapons for cores (flame,chemical,dark,special cores ... )

Rebalance ALL Melee Researches and Manufacture lines

Rebalance Melee Weapons

Check knife, catanas, axes

Check Sell Price for Weapons

Check Smart/Particle Weapon Trees

Researches.AdvAlienAncientTechnology has no link, make link to some ulty weapons

Check Harridan AI

Balance Armor Research

Check shield researches

Researches.AlienNeutronGrenade/Researches.AlienGenetic isnt linked to anything >> flashbang affinity

Balance the Money Economy

Balance Greande/Rocket/Explosives Manufacture Requirements

Balance Armor Manufacture Requirements

Set Shock/Electron requirements to alien electronics parts ?

Decrease Money Requirements for vehicles and increase upkeep cost

Look throught the whole Researches.xml again

Make some aircraft videos, showcases

Check Aircraft Ranges

Post 1.00 Version:

A corpse drops a stunned alien instead, leading to the alieninterrogation research

More Dropships ?

Check if every alien (aiprops) drops its stunned version

Check Medical Aid Upgrade/Lower Values ?

Make small/medium/large alien Base DSB ?

Add at least 1 chemical explosive

Add human Toxin/blood/hybrid tree

A big problem is that the specialists cant be distinguished by its looks (maybe a feature ?)

Code All Drones corpses

Rewrite the Manufacture UI

Rewrite Xenopedia UI

Check human/alien armour, no more flat suppression armor reductions, but %, check rest

Check every line of code for modding possibilities

Remodel the ground Combat to Jagged Alliance 2 style, more shots per turn, etc ...

Improve the AI

Improve and add buildings

Add the Dropships Rage and Storm

Maybe ?:

Make AC weapon slots fit the picture

Sort Every .xml file

Add Data Hack Requirements to more researches ?

Code Specilaist Corpses

MORE operator researches/ufocontents/aiprops

no race data hacks ?

Make completely new UFOs ?

Make a more assymetric weapon tree

Add enemy within hum units to the game

Use the ReplaceItem(); command ?

Sort researches to make it easier/less individualistic

I kind of suggest you wait until we announce the second release of the Alpha version where you can play through the beginning to the end, only missing out on the aforementioned things, Xpedia, Strings, Balance, and possible not fixed Bugs.

That would be your time to jump in, and for a lot of other people as well if they wanna try it out.
