Max_Caine
I mean, I get the Interactive part. But where did Goldhawk come from? Did it come from anywhere in particular?
Chris
Honestly - I looked at a tube map, saw the name Goldhawk Road and thought "that'll do nicely". I was in a hurry to name the company as we had to announce Xenonauts in response to the XCOM FPS game all those years ago, so there wasn't much time for thought. Reiver
Hah, that's awesome. You must be thankful it's a good name! Y'know, instead of "It was a good idea at the time."
Chris
I do occasionally wonder if it's a good name or not. I keep thinking it's not as punchy as something like "Valve" or "Blizzard", but then I realised that the only reason those names sound so good is because of the associations they come with. "Valve" is actually a fairly crappy name if you think about it.
LordJulian
Valve can be mistaken with Valva. Blizzard sounds like a milkshake, and Goldhawk is a..... damn, can't think of anything. Curse you and your overly simple name branding.
Max_Caine
The worst I've seen Goldhawk misspelled is Goldenhawk, wheras I've seen the Volvo twitter beg followers to stop asking for updates to DOTA. The idea of a stooping hawk is from a brand perspective, energetic and vital. It's good!
Msvknight
actually, in the future, i am going to try and make a company, already got a name
vaultdweller
The name and logo still make me think that they should be fighting the Brotherhood of Nod.
Jean-Luc
Goldhawk is a great name, the logo has a very positive association in gaming.
Jasmine Moldovia
Why Fight Nod when you can join Kane? After all, in the end, he turned out to be right, with the scrin and all.
Jean-Luc
'Cause Cain's a filthy alium and we don't take kindly to those 'round here.
Jasmine Moldovia
I was GDI all through one, but by two I think I switched to NOD. Edit: And honestly he looks human enough to me... cloned to hell and back, but Human, in fact he's the one taking Alien tech and reusing it... kinda like Xenonaughts do, and X-com Command... so~ I submit, Kane is the C&C equivalent to Xenonaughts. Chris
Yes, Aaron did point out the whole GDI connotations a couple of years back - I can live with that
StellarRat
Can someone please explain this "GDI" and the golden bird that Jean-Luc posted? Apparently, there is some gaming history here that I never experienced.

StellarRat
Well, that explains it! I don't play RTS games, so I never played Command and Conquer.
