StellarRat
Which one? Praetors? Either way the implementation of alien morale on OG was horrible and served no purpose, and I don't recall developers bringing up alien morale either before bunch of people clamored for the feature. Yeah, obviously a better system would need to be implemented although I don't consider that a particularly difficult challenge. Actually, Chris talked about it quite a bit. It was just cut due to time constraints. If you go strictly by the Lore it seems to me that killing the highest ranking alien should cause all kinds of problems for the rest. aajs
Can I set regeneration ability on an armour yet. I thought I read somewhere it was going to be put in but cant find the thread. Unless of course I dreamt it.

llunak
Are the map/submap editors updated/improved somehow? I think currently they have exactly the same functionality like the vanilla ones.
Skitso
I think currently they have exactly the same functionality like the vanilla ones. Would it be too much to ask to have the ability to specify alien spawn height levels in map editor? (ATM aliens always spawn at level 0 and it makes the gameplay a bit dull as aliens very rarely manages to reach upper floors) Edited August 22, 2014 by Skitso

libertyn
This is a great update. I understand the red, green, and clear, but what does the yellow cover indicator signify?
Solver
I think it's for when you can shoot by leaning out of that corner and are only partially exposed, but I cannot actually say with certainty.
endersblade
Hmm. I can't download this via steam, don't see the option anywhere, but no biggie, I installed it manually and installed the settings files as well. Started a new game. Everything worked just fine until I landed at my first mission - game crashed. No other mods installed. Tried again, same thing, game crashed. Currently doing the 'validating steam files' and will try again.
aajs
Is it possible that dropships could appear in air battles. if a dropship and an escort go into an air battle currently only the fighter is present. It would be nice to see both and it would be fun trying to defend it. It would be also nice if you could have the option to mod in a weapon for the dropship. I know you would not be able to see it in the hanger view but a basic gun or something that does not change would be cool.
aajs
should the shield and pistol animations work now, It seems when I have a pistol and shield equipped I only see the pistol sprites, however the Sprite sheets are available.

Or copy-paste? And if the latter, did you install it by overwriting the vanilla game files, or did you install it in the mods folder? Solver
The option in Steam is right-click Xenonauts, choose Betas, and then community from there. It's known to work.

The option in Steam is right-click Xenonauts, choose Betas, and then community from there. It's known to work. There is absolutely nothing on my Betas tab for Xenonauts. It just says "NONE - Opt of out all beta programs" and no way to change it. And that's right click - properties - betas. There isn't anything at all about betas by just right clicking on Xenonauts. And yeah, my steam is currently up to date. Regardless, I have a bunch of other mods (and some personal modding) installed at the moment, so I'll forgo the community mod for now. Sounds interesting, and maybe a few playthroughs down the road, I'll give it a try again.
TacticalDragon
Adding this pack in steam was a smart move! All the changes are welcome, specially the LOS recalculations! Thank you so much all the Coders.
kabill
Sorry. I installed it with the game launcher's mod installer. That's strange. Although, I note below you say that you have other mods running. Was that on a different copy to the one you were trying to get XCE to work on? (You said previously you didn't have any other mods installed). There is absolutely nothing on my Betas tab for Xenonauts. It just says "NONE - Opt of out all beta programs" and no way to change it. That's also strange, since I can access it fine. @Solver: is there a chance the XCE version has been tied to the experimental branch or anything (so needs the experimental branch password adding in first?). Like I said in my original post, I was attempting to install X:CE on a completely fresh install. I tried it two or three more times, the third time I completely uninstalled the game and reinstalled, then installed X:CE (using the mod installer each time), and it would crash in the same place every single time. Also, I noticed something when first starting a game - a message pops up saying I don't have enough money to do...something. I can't remember. But it cancels building my first base, and I have to click on "build new base" to get it going again. Of course it inevitably crashes when I land at a UFO, so I dunno. I didn't start tinkering with mods until I gave up on X:CE. I've mostly just downloaded new armor and portrait pics, and tweaked how many scientists/engineers I can have per lab/workshop. Nothing I can't live without, if I can get X:CE working. Btw, I'm not trying to call anyone a liar! :-P I'm sure it's in the Betas section for you guys, but for some reason, it doesn't show for me. All I have on that particular page is what I posted above, and a box to enter a beta key or something.
GerbilSchooler
Hmm, currently I cannot Opt "out" of XCE through the Steam Beta Tab. The tab says community- Xenonauts: Community Edition Branch. But when I click it, no scroll down menu appears. I can get the menu to appear with other games I have on Steam. So perhaps there is some trouble with the Xenonauts Betas? That sounds like a faulty install. I'm not sure how that could be the case if you're using the mod installer, though, as it should do everything fine. Can I get you to try this: 1) Download the mod from the downloads page on the forum (I assume you actually already have this, but just wanted to be clear) 2) Create a new folder in assets/mods called 'xce' 3) Copy the contents of the XCE .zip folder into the new 'xce' folder you created. 4) Copy the executable files (xenonauts.exe, xenonauts_gc.xce, and the map editor files) into your top level Xenonauts directory (so they overrwrite the vanilla executables). Following these steps exactly should make the mod work fine. If it still doesn't, I have no clue why it doesn't work for you, especially after a completely fresh install. GerbilSchooler
Oh snap. Well, I figured out what was wrong with mysself trying to navigate the Betas menu. The Xenonauts launcher was open which prohibited me from changing which version of the game I had through Steam. Was your Xenonauts launcher open when you were trying to change the beta tab, Ender? iycgtptyarvg
How can you tell XCE is installed? I don't see any mention anywhere in the game. I installed the portraits mod and the ultimate maps pack mod and I see huge changes, but with the XCE mod I don't notice anything different. Do I need to start a new campaign?
Solver
Run the game, look at the version number in the top right corner of the launcher. If it says Xenonauts 1.09, that's not XCE. If it says Community Edition 0.27, that's XCE. Many of the changes are subtle and not something you immediately notice. That said, if you also install xcesettings (or install from Steam), there should be immediately obvious changes.
iycgtptyarvg
It says: "Xenonauts Community Edition 0.27 UNOFFICIAL: Peek-a-boo" How do I activate the feature of visually showing cover? Also, I pressed on the roof icon, but the ground floor didn't disappear (so I can see my soldiers behind buildings and such).
