Solver
Anyone up to making this? Kinda surprised this hasn't been done yet. I am talking about defining some more sane starting loadouts for the roles. I at least never use the default ones, especially Rifleman and Assault loadouts seem to be quite poor. I'd appreciate it if somebody made a file with better defaults, perhaps after some investigation of what people actually tend to use. Could also be a nice thing to include into other mods then. skaianDestiny
I can make some defaults if you give me some time.
skaianDestiny
Okay, here's what the load outs look like. Any C&C?
kabill
That's more or less spot on for me.
silencer
Here are mine.
Solver
Skaian's are close to what I usually use. Certainly a much better starting point for most players than the defaults.
winterwolves
Skaians's look pretty good, a couple of comments though: The scout should not have a grenade in his hand. If it is empty, you can throw whichever grenade type suits at the time. Some of the loadouts seem too heavy for a newbie. Eg I can never get more than a machine gun and two lots of ammo for my initial heavies. Also, am I the only one that gives all my riflemen a rocket launcher while they are only in basic armour? Most of them, anyway.
Solver
Yeah the MG guy is overloaded for a newbie, I usually have to skip medkit and grenades, but with too much stuff in the loadout, it's just a couple of right-clicks to remove the extra items if needed.Good point about the Scout though! skaianDestiny
Okay, will make those changes in a jiffy. Here they are: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/82304502/Xenonauts/loadouts.xml Changes: Scout: Removed the grenade in the hand. Rocketeer: Removed grenades. MG: Removed everything except two MG ammo in the belt.
Solver
Very good, I think I will put those into X:CE if you do not mind. I also have another loadout defined, a Specialist. It's a Rifleman with 1 extra clip and 1 of each grenade on the belt, and a rocket launcher and C4 pack in the backpack. I have previously found this to be an interesting role. Would be cool if someone (Skitso?) wanted to make a role image for those guys.
skaianDestiny
Well Skitso's Oppressive UI has some role images you could use.
Skitso
Sure, I'll make something tomorrow.
llunak
I think I will tone down the number of grenades, as most rookies (and starting soldiers) start overloaded. Many new players do not even alter their soldiers after game start, so they'll be bitten by this instead of helped.
