[V1.07 - Ground Combat] Save file corruption

Hi,

First off, great game - loving it!

However, I recently experienced an application crash during ground combat (while invading an alien base). Symptoms were: constant "footstep" noise being played, so quit game to try stop it. Game crashed, on attempting to reload save "ground combat loading" screen appears, but it hangs just before progress bar is filled up and then crashes after about 30s.

I'm playing Iron Man so only have a single savefile and am about 28 hours in, so a little annoying! Is there some way I can restore my save? E.g. are savefiles backed up automatically when playing Iron Man?

I think that in an unstable game like this one you should save often and use discipline to load only if you have a technical problem like this one. I like Ironman games too but it really has to be a rock hard stable release! No shame in saving, just in loading if you lose a troop

Plus your frustration level will then be a lot less. You will also have a savegame to upload for the devs.
