Chris
It's already started. X:CE is working on improved mod integration and some other key improvements to the game: http://www.goldhawkinteractive.com/forums/showthread.php/11882-What-is-Xenonauts-Community-Edition-how-do-I-get-it We will do a V1.10 at some point, but it's just fixing up a few more bugs in the game. We're just waiting till we have enough changes collected to justify a new version.

iycgtptyarvg
A few questions: 1. Regarding the community mod... if they are really key improvements, do you release them also in the normal patches? e.g., v1.10? 2. If you install the community mod, does that interfere with patches? If so, which version of the community mod belongs to which version of (the Steam build of) Xenonauts?
kabill
1. I think that's the plan long term (at least for bug-fixes, and I imagine the modular mod loading system). 2. Kind of. If Xenonauts 1.10 was released today, the current X:CE build wouldn't contain any fixes in the source-code. However, the last time there was a core update a new version of X:CE was released within a day or so that was updated for the latest patch. And the current X:CE build uses 1.09 as a base, so its fully up to date.
iycgtptyarvg
Thanks for your reply Kabill. So, to clarify: if I stay on the latest community mod, then I'll also have the latest patch? Are the save games compatible, or do I need to start a new game?
kabill
Yes, it'll have the latest patch and it is save-game compatible with 1.09 games.
