Judahpeter
Overview Greetings: I’ve been working on a new graphics mod for the soldier's ranks and I think I’ve finally finished it. However, I will consider this a Beta version because I haven’t technically completed the game and seen all the ranks. I did my best with what I have to work with and rearranging them. Download: Instructions: BACKUP your images first! I will not be responsible for any files that get replaced or overwritten without first making a backup. Unzip into your Desktop and copy everything into your Steam directory under the rankimages folder overwriting the files. Steam\SteamApps\common\Xenonauts\assets\gui\rankimages\ Features: - Military ranks that LOOK official and are easy to identify. - High quality graphics. - scaled to fit on the images of the soldiers without being obtrusive. - hours of love into small details. Feedback: I worked many hours on this and I’m excited to hear some positive feedback, so please check it out and let me know what you think. Bugs: Please send bug reports to judahpeter@comcast.net. Changelog: Beta .9a - Rotated the Commander rank clockwise as suggested. Thank you Xitax. Added some screenshots to this post Beta .9 - Found extra files. Cleaned up the zip file. Happy alien hunting! judahpeters military ranks.zip judahpeters military ranks.zip Edited July 16, 2014 by Judahpeter
Max_Caine
Wow, they look like actual badges or patches you'd sew or pin on.
kahvipannu
These look high-quality, since your calling it beta, are you considering doing more? For a global-force, which combines people all around the glode, would be cool to see something less traditional, but still easy to understand. Judahpeter
I'm not sure what you're asking? Aren't these the only ranks in the game? Anyway, since I was in the military, I understand these ranks easy enough. I was hoping these would be for the global force for the world. I'm sorry it's not a new fancy rank system that I'm not familiar with. In order to make a different "global" set I would have to completely start over in order to make another, and as of right now I don't have the time. Let me know you have in mind and I can look into it. BTW, I really like what you've done with your mod. The faces and armors look really good and I was hoping these would look great on them in game. Thanks for the post. Edited July 4, 2014 by Judahpeter
Derekash71
Love it looks like the real thing but cant open the file says its a php file is that correct?
kahvipannu
Indeed they are easy to understand, and that is the most important thing. I did not mean to change these, since they do not need changing, but I tought if your going to more alternative ones in the future, it would be cool to see something a bit out of the box alongside more "traditional" ones. Judahpeter
Love it looks like the real thing but cant open the file says its a php file is that correct? What's the problem? It's a zip file so you need a unzipping program like 7-zip, winrar, or other similar program.

victorix58
I like the mod, thanks! Much easier to identify rank and I like the aesthetics better too. What's keeping it from the "final" version?
Judahpeter
I'm glad to hear that you like it and you're very welcome! I am leaving this in a Beta version until I get more feedback from people. Also, I still haven’t completed the game to see all of the ranks on the officers. I mostly consider this finished, but I just need more verification. Thanks for your comments and feedback. Xitax
I like this very much! Easy to identify ranks, and I'm also a bit prejudiced because I am ex-Army so they are familiar, too. Only thing that I would improve is to rotate the Lt. Col. rank slightly clockwise as it's a smidge off from Maj.
Judahpeter
Thanks Xitax for the feedback. I've gone ahead and edited the graphic as you suggested. It's now Beta .9A. I also uploaded some screenshots of a few of the ranks in the game.
Judahpeter
This mod isn't modular yet, but I wanted it to be available and not buried in the forum. It's simple enough to install though. Edited January 27, 2015 by Judahpeter
