  1. Yes, I just double-checked the regular version and the blurry text still occur on my machine. I don't have an option for a 1440x900 resolution in the launcher when I run either version of the 1.09 game. I have checked it in a few other resolutions now (running windowed) and the behavior is consistent for me, the _errors version has clear text and the non-_errors version has blurry text. The text does get a bit blurry when I run it in non-native resolution, but that looks like it's more from pixel scaling, whereas the other distortions I see in the non-_error version look different (as though every few horizontal lines of text are offset several pixels to the right or left).
  2. For what it's worth, I personally do get clear text with the Xenonauts_errors.zip file (now that I figured out how to unzip it correctly, argh). I'm running the game at 2560x1440 on an iMac, with "run in a window" checked. woowoo, what resolution are you running at?
  3. I'm getting the same behavior with the Xenonauts_errors.zip file. Double-clicking it exits immediately, running from the command-line exits with the message above about MainMenu.nib. I'm on OS/X 10.9.4, mid-2010 iMac. Hmm, upon inspection it looks like there was some kind of unzip error. Unzipping the file with TheUnarchiver wound up with a 119 MB .app directory. When I unzipped it with Archive Manager, it wound up looking correct. % du -sh /Users/tim/Library/Application\ Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Xenonauts/Xenonauts_errors 119M /Users/tim/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Xenonauts/Xenonauts_errors % du -sh /Users/tim/Library/Application\ Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Xenonauts/Xenonauts_errors\ 2 2.8G /Users/tim/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Xenonauts/Xenonauts_errors 2 The new version seems to launch just fine. Possibly it's a bug with TheUnarchiver, will follow up with them.
  4. Yes, that was the first thing I tried - it just immediately exited. I'll try with the _errors version tonight to double-check.
  5. Steam downloaded version 1.09 for me (on the experimental branch), but I'm not able to launch the resulting app. It unzipped fine, but when I run Contents/MacOS/WineskinLauncher from the command-line, it exits with "2014-07-23 00:30:22.006 WineskinLauncher[6176:507] Unable to load nib file: MainMenu.nib, exiting."
  6. I saw something similar with the stairs issue where my squaddie wouldn't go up the stairs after seeing an alien on 1.07.
  7. FWIW, I am able to see the animated menus and UFOs personally. I'm using the latest experimental build on Steam (1.07HF), on a 2010 iMac, OS/X 10.9.4.
  8. You're thinking of Wine, which is a way to run Windows programs on Mac or Linux. You don't need to install Wine yourself, you'll just either install the game through steam or download a setup disk image as usual. The Mac build is currently working pretty well, though it has some rough edges and missing features.
  9. Ok, well I've experimented with some different Wine engines. These builds all exhibit the font bug: WS9Wine1.7.21WS8Wine1.5.1WS8Wine1.4WS8Wine1.3.37WS8Wine1.3.10WS8Wine1.3.5WS8Wine1.3.4WS8Wine1.3.3 WS8Wine1.3.0 and 1.3.2 both display the fonts correctly, but they both have weird issues with the mouse flickering. 1.3.20 crashes on startup. Therefore it looks like the regression happened sometime between 1.3.2 and 1.3.3. Here's the Wine changelog for 1.3.3; a quick scan doesn't reveal anything that looks obviously related, but who knows? At any rate, so far 1.2.3 seems to be the most stable option. I'll try running with that for a while and see if I kick up any other problems.
  10. So more about the blurred font issues, I ran the 1.07 Windows build (I'm running the Steam version installed on my Windows partition) in a Wineskin wrapper and I'm still getting the blurred / distorted fonts. I tried running the application in a 1920x1200 window and a 1920x1080 window, and I'm still seeing the issue. (Here's a screenshot, you can notice the distortion most at the bottom of the screen.) Here's the "LastWineRun.log" output in case it's helpful. I tried a few things in winetricks, including setting the macdriver to X11 (I've got Quartz installed) with no dice. Setting fontfix and fontsmooth to disabled didn't work, nor did fiddling with the screen settings. Oh, update! Following erutan's suggestion above, I downloaded the WS8Wine1.2.3 engine, and the font issue seems to have disappeared! Here's an updated screenshot. I'll experiment with another few engines to see if I can figure out when it broke. Thanks erutan!
  11. I have an ATI Radeon and I'm seeing the blurred text issues. I will try opening the Windows installation in Wineskin later this weekend.
  12. I saw the text issue in a mid-2010 27" iMac, OS/X 10.9.3, ATI Radeon HD 5750, under build 1.06 and previous from Desura. I'm unable to launch the Mac Steam version. I unzipped the file from the experimental branch, but it wouldn't load. Running WineskinLauncher from the command-line gives me this: % ./Contents/MacOS/WineskinLauncher2014-07-01 16:32:02.294 WineskinLauncher[1366:507] Unable to load nib file: MainMenu.nib, exiting
  13. I also experienced the black boxes and graphical glitches problem on my iMac, ATI Radeon 5670, OS/X 10.9.3, with 1.06 from Desura. It also occurred on an industrial map for me.
  14. I downloaded v1.06 for Mac from Desura. I was happy to see that autoresolve was enabled again, but when I used it my game crashed. Will try to reproduce and send in logs.
  15. Great, thanks for the info. Please let us know in this thread if there's anything we can do to help.
