  1. Meh, something must be done about psionics. Currently, I am unwilling to play on ironman because of the possibility of my singularity-cannon guy getting MC'd and vaporizing my entire squad. When that or something similar happens, Xenonauts ceases to be fun and becomes a chore. That's what the current MC system contributes to the game. Having to drop your weapons each turn so that your guys don't murder each other is not what I consider to be fun. Be it mitigation by bravery, psi-inhibitors, or some other tech that makes your men and women resistant to psionic attacks, psionics must be changed in order for them to be a positive aspect of Xenonauts.
  2. Chris, I'm not sure what you mean by the Fury "using" cores. Does that mean that Furies will consume singularity cores as fuel? Also, thanks for the link, frank.
  3. Ah, great to hear! Where might I find the appropriate thread?
  4. Is everyone fine with the current exchange rate of 1 singularity core for 3 singularity torpedoes? Personally, I find it to be a bit of a rip off, considering how tough and time-consuming Battleships can be to crack. Compounding this is the fact that the Fury costs you 60 alenium and $600,000 to build, vaporizes the the bath water, baby, and pretty much the entire house, and is essentially useless once you run out of torps for it. Anyway, I have some suggestions that could make the Fury a bit more cost-effective, so if you agree with me, read on. If you think the current system is hunkey-dorey, then you can skip right to "lol l2p." 1. Increase the number of torpedoes granted by a singularity core up to 6-8. Probably the simplest and most easily-balanced solution, and I think quite logical, considering you're extracting energy from a black freaking hole. 2. Eliminate requirement to build singularity torpedoes, and increase Fury's reload time up to ~12 hours. Now, in order to justify this I'm going to totally fan-wank, so anyone who's not down with that divert your eyes... now. Okay, so a singularity core is basically a black freaking hole, right? That's quite a bit of energy, assuming the average black hole eats a star or two, maybe a solar system, and of course complete donkeyloads of photons during its lifetime. So, even if a singularity core contains a tiny percentage of that black hole's energy, it still hold enormous amounts of energy, "enough to power our entire civilization for decades," according to the Xenopedia. Now, a singularity torpedo warhead would probably be around a 100 megaton device, which, compared to the amount of energy probably contained in a singularity core, is nothing. Basically, you could continuously extract energy from the thing, bottle it up in a torpedo, and continue to do so for years. However, it would take time to extract the energy and manufacture the torpedo, hence the 12-hour reload time. In terms of gameplay, it would still be completely impractical to spam Furies, for obvious reasons. So you wouldn't be able to (easily) create a late-game 24-hour Fury murder-train. And even if you could, you would receive nothing in return.
  5. Thanks for the replies, guys. I bought the game on April 11th, so I assume I have the latest version (v21 stable?).
  6. So, I have Operation Endgame researched, over 7 million dollars in the bank, and all Predator/Sentinel armor troops, but no MAG weapons. IIRC the alien Battle Rifle is required for them, but I have yet to encounter even ONE elite Caesan. Every ship I attack is filled with either Sebillians and Reapers or Androns and Harridians. Anyone know of a way to remedy this?
  7. After clearing a couple Battleships and nabbing my first Praetor (yay), Psi attacks aren't too bad if you know how to deal with them. However, I was constantly terrified that my rocket launcher guy would get mind-controlled and proceed to transform his squadmates into a delicious red mousse. I see how that could be slightly irritating on Ironman.
  8. Indeed, Psionic attacks are annoying. Especially when your machinegunner gets mind controlled and she proceeds to gun down your entire friggin' team. I think the Bravery stat mitigating Psionic attacks is an excellent idea.
  9. Any Andron-Harridian terror mission where every frickin' one of the buggers is toting a Heavy Plasma. Enough said.
  10. Bwahahha, silly people. I just give all my guys rocket launchers and tell them to have fun. JK, my current Shrike loadout comprises 4 Predators, 4 Riflemen, 1 Assault, 1 Sniper, and a Hyperion.
  11. In a recent terror mission I saw one brave militiaman take down two androns before getting splattered across the pavement by a heavy plasma bolt. That man deserves the Medal of Honor.
