  1. Is it possible to alter psionics such that they require LOS or squad sight? I gather that this was considered during development, but ultimately dropped in favor of the "range decreases ability" approach. Personally, I find the psionics in this game to be problematic as designed, and while I know how to edit their usage (as in, how many TUs it costs to use them, the chance for success, etc.), I don't know how to edit how they operate without LOS. My thought was that the psionic powers/strength would work fine, but would be better implemented if they: - Required either LOS or squad sight (like other weapons in the game) - Ignored obstacles (like they do currently) - Still had the "range decreases effectiveness" aspect. Anyone know if this is possible?
  2. I'm playing the game on Normal, so my experience may be different, but in general, I find that playing conservatively really helps. Reaction fire usually will work if you have enough space for it to be effective. Saving enough TUs for a normal, or even aimed shot (depending on the weapon) can help, too. Other than that, it's generally a matter of sight lines and overlapping fields of fire. Reapers are still dangerous, of course, but if you can save enough time to react to them, they're not as bad. The map might also matter. Carbines/shotguns might be more appropriate to carry on a terror mission in an industrial area. Rifles have middling reaction speed (like everything else), but shotguns/carbines and pistols have good reaction modifiers. Sniper rifles and MGs, I think, have lower reaction speeds, but that's where having enough space and enough reserved TUs comes into play.
  3. Dunno how possible it is to add this to the game, but I'd say a better approach would be that scientists work more productively with fully functioning gear, than with broken gear. So, crash sites are a mix of functional and broken gear, meaning you can maybe start to research something sooner, but the progress will be slower because what you're researching is broken. By contrast, if you get a working one, research goes faster. You'd still have sort of an incentive to do ground missions against landed ships, but you'd survive just fine if all you ever did was shoot them down.
