Assaulting an alien base one of my team members was mind controlled. On my next turn I saved, and then decided to try the 'M' key function of melee attacking to see if it would do anything, and if so if it could knock the mind controlled person unconscious. After having every other team member available spend their turns whacking at the mind controlled person I attempted a reload at which point my game crashed and any attempt to load that file results in a crash.
