  1. Can't wait for the first real bug fix patch. I can't manage to enjoy the game in its current state, empty crash ships, aliens shooting through ships that can't themselves be targeted even from within the ship, % indications that are way off the real %, all of that happening every mission.. Perso I'll just wait a bit more before really getting into a campaign ^^
  2. Logically, the whole point of a base is to overcome logistic problem due to time & distance thus offering coverage or at the bare minimum relay resources to a zone otherwise unreachable (either at an acceptable cost or not at all). Base specialization should come second after resource logistic benefits and radar coverage. If you can reach any point on earth from one base with one airplane then I don't see a point in having additional bases besides having to bend to the game rule, imo at least it would hurt my fun.
  3. Great roadmap, thanks for sharing. As I understand it an Alpha phase it basically the phase where you throw everything in the game (code in all the game features), then on the beta phase you put some order (bug fixing, balancing & polishing).
  4. Thanks for this great development note, much appreciated, keep up that productive pace. Cheers
  5. I haven't read everything no so you must be right but I'm not judging anyone, I'm just saying that when a kid IRL comes to you with silly questions or inappropriate requests you don't send the child off with insults for his lack of common sense. You educate him. If the OP is truly just a troll, well I don't understand why it got fed for 6 yummy pages. Personally to be on topic, I just longer for the game's to go gold just as much as I want it to be released when it's ready and not a second before.
  6. I'm excited about Xenonauts and pre-ordered it because I believe in it, the time it takes to be polished and how the game development is managed isn't my concern considering any soul in its right mind would think the people behind the project know better. That said, when I joined this forum I was surprised at how virulent the general tone gets in most threads, that's why now I most of the time don't bother with this board anymore but for once I'd like to defend the OP a little bit, even if I disagree with the form of its post I think the concern he rises is a valid one and that if he is concerned, a lot more silent people are. A simple and clear answer would have been a lot more clever than quick judgements, troll alerts, insults and sarcasm.
  7. For what it's worth I kinda like that some research are shown as ######. It sort of makes me feel like my scientists are launching a research on some very curious tech that they don't know how to call, its purpose nor the result it will yield.
  8. You could write these uncalled-for lessons in such a patronizing tone all day couldn't you?
  9. Hmm print key works fine here in full screen mode. In what soft do you load the screenshot?
  10. That would be a great addition. Allows you to save AP for shooting through the reaction AP slide bar. One bird with two stones! I'd use it all the time.
  11. Will the geoscape be optimized in term of performance before release? Because in its current state it is, at least in my game, pretty laggy whenever I move around the globe a little too much. It's not a huge issue nor it should be a priority but non-stuttering navigation across the world map would go a long way to a smoother game experience given the amount of time spent on it.
  12. Well I'm sorry I never check the Off-topic sub forum and I just don't feel like checking every forum nor do an extensive search every time I want to share something, if the result is that thread getting locked and/or deleted so be it, though my intention isn't to spam everyone's day. Just wanted to share my thoughts and read yours but it could be that I'm indeed too lazy for that.
  13. Hey there, like most of you guys know the Xcom EU demo is available since yesterday. I was wondering what you guys think about it? It's pretty short but it still gives a tiny view of the game. Personally I'm still going to wait for the reviews before making my mind. In my humble opinion, after playing the demo and watching a bunch of gameplay vids it looks like the pros are: -the base view and animations, which is a nice change, makes it look alive (I still kinda prefer top view though) -Combat/movement actions that are clear and very smooth -The background/story telling the biggest cons in my opinion being that -you only are allowed to have 1 base -the squad number fully upgraded won't go higher than 6 members. -Heavily simplified AP system. -From what I could see not much will happen on the world map in terms of gameplay, doesn't really feel like it's a real interface now but more like an eye candy convenient link between events -the cartoonish design which lacks finesse, but art direction is just personal taste -the Camera work, they did a good job I'd say, but it's just too action oriented for me There's still a bunch of good ideas that Xenonauts could really use like the on-the-go cover information or the way the game deals with doors and windows for example but all in all that's a big step away from micro management to focus more on action, i.e the combat missions. It's a shame cause as much as i like the ground combat, to me like I'm used to say, it's just a tool to protect the planet through careful management and tactical choices. I'm disappointed with it and too many sacrifices had to be made in order to simplify the game to a point that I know it just won't satisfy my need for a good Xcom-like. Xenonauts, I figured it would be like that but it's now official, all my hopes fall back on you.
  14. I know its most likely never gonna happen but I figured I'd still throw the idea around anyways as I know that's an addition I'd enjoy. I was thinking of a feature to give us the ability, or rather the need to send scientist/technicians crews after a successful mission to harness/study some of the biggest alien stuff. Just like you send soldiers to missions only the space on the dropship would be divided between either scientists/technicians and soldiers for their protections. There isn't really a harnessing/studying mission so to speak, just a geomap marker and countdown that starts when the team arrives and start working. You do use real crews and a dropship though like for a regular mission. The more scientists/technicians on site the quicker Harnessing/Studying would go while the more soldiers are affected to the mission the less chances of Aliens to try and secure back what is theirs. So you got to make choices. Required time on site would of course vary, just like risks. If the team is successful then either you just discovered something (research is over) or they bring back whatever the harnessed for further study (new research unlock). If despite the soldiers the aliens attacks (could be a % chance every hour for example) an event windows popup offering the player with various choices which could be: 1-Fight the aliens, in which case the map loads and everything goes on kinda like a normal mission, win by killing all aliens (and keep on working afterwards) or loose if all soldiers drop dead, in which case you also loose the whole crew, the dropship and the chance to study/harness in that particular site. 2-Retreat, you'd just retreat all your crew thinking it's not worth the risk and come home empty handed and with a slim chance for crew casualties. The site then disappear and can't be studied/harnessed again.
