That hub thing you're referring to is probably Steam Big Picture. Anywho, the trailers had shown a couple of walls being knocked down, buuuuuuut I'm starting to get a little skeptical, and fearing that it might be the same as D3's Seigebreaker Finisher.

I think it really only matters if the story was one of the main focuses. If I have a story that's leading up to a big climatic finish, it's going to matter to me if it feels that the story did, or did not. Like wise, If I pop in something like sonic 2, where there's zero story, I have zero expectation of a climatic ending, or a big finish.

From what I've seen of it happening to me, it happens after you load a save where your scientists are researching, and when it finishes, they multiply. Oddly enough, using the same save twice had the first ten double after the first load, then quadruple the second load.
