Me senslessly beating xcom eu (2012) with a stick

Ummm after convincing myself to buy xcom it broke about 5 hours into game so now im redownloading. and I have come to one conclusion it IS infinished.

I deeply hate the action system with a passion

I have a tendency to missclick BAM then my troops are out of position....

why does reloading or shooting first take up 2 actions?

Missing gamemodes/missions?!?!

While pokeing through file I noticed some cool mission blurbs

- stolen artifact you need to find

-mission briefing leading me to believe There would be a cool location (graveyards other)

they seem to be different variations of council mission witch would be cool... If I didnt have to repetadly disarm bombs or escort General Von Whatever for the 4th time....Mabye its just different briefing (conformation plox?)

cant buy scientist/engineers?

it just seems stupid

I dont think it benefits anything

Cover system IS JUST TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had 2 soldiers 1 tile away from a floater they both had 55% chance to hit same as one action ago...

cheating ai

wether it be teleporting into my squad,walking through walls, jumping through ceilings, and mutons being able to jump soooo high (I mean THEY ARE HUGGGGGGGGGE!!)

and other things I forgot about (to busy waiting for the game to reload....)

I played the demo twice before release. After that I never had to worry about if I would enjoy the game. If it goes on sale one day in the future for less than 10$ and has had a full overhaul by modders I will consider it then. It's a shame that the game engine is made for 12 year olds. The render engine is gorgeous.

Those cool missions you saw in the file, they are most probably future DLC content just like we got the three missions of a Triad gang member as a first DLC. But they did promise us 80 different maps. I havn't seen 80 maps, i saw the same maps int the same gameplay.

The game is ok but I got ticked off once i learned that they are selling DLC before throwing in a fix.

I wonder why they didn't do it like Incubations system if they really disliked having people do math in their head. That system was still pretty fun in its simplicity without feeling stupid. But I guess they'd be unable to use their cover system then.

I think having 3-4 actions instead of 2, decrease the range of one move action and increase the amount of hits someone could take would be a great way to balance it. (that way you could walk around poison clouds without being screwed) Possibly have shooting consume 2 actions and give a perk that reduce it to 1.

They aren't doing that.

IIRC, if a floater is airborne, it gets the same bonus as being in half-cover.

Different strokes...

I love it, but I don't have an pretensions about what it was supposed to be as many people over on the Take2 forums seem to have.

I think it works really well with the design they chose, the reduced amount of micro tediousness which is a downer for some is a major plus for me, the tactical combat with the cover mechanic is different and enjoyable.

That said there are certainly some issues, and some room for improvements. Then again what game these days doesn't come out that way (to varying degrees obviously).

I think there's plenty of room in the TBS world for XCOM:EU as well as Xenonauts.
