You guys will hate me for this one, but being the jackass I am, I'm gonna point it out. Here goes. The F-17 was not a modified version of the F-16. The F-17 was this. Note that the F-17 lost out on the Air Force contract to the F-16. Why not just refer to it as the F-16X, if the first thing in its Xenopedia entry is that it's an F-16 tweaked to Xenonaut standards? -
I was reading the story and it struck me as odd why humans in the game are fighting the aliens so fanatically. First the humans attack the survivors of a downed space ship, then shoot down survey ships carrying non-combatants, then finally launch nuclear weapons at landed ships that destroy both humans and aliens alike. All this as a response for aliens taking a few dozen humans. For all we know, the aliens could have just wanted to mine some natural gas at the north pole or something.

I mean, logically, they should send all their best soldiers, best scientists, best engineers, donate all resources, all their radar arrays, etc etc, all for free, when it's obvious that aliens are tearing the planet apart. Maybe one angle is that the x-com project leaders know that there exist within governments factions who are brokering alliance or surrender to the aliens and are unwilling to accept the direct involvement of anyone into the project, except in the way of monetary donation, in order keep the project better secure from spies etc? I dunno... Anyone care to explain it? just for fun even
