  1. No that's a fair point. I realise it isn't a sequel and yes, is more of an 'alternative cut' to use film parlance. Arguably neither of the versions that are on the way are sequels, so I apologise for typing freely and not paying much attention to writing a post on a game forum. I should have been acutely aware that any communication on the internet should be triple checked as though it was a thesis for a Masters. Besides, you missed out an "a" between 'to' and 'heartwarming' but keep up the good work.
  2. Not sure where the appropriate place to put this but I'm really glad I backed you guys at Goldhawk after seeing the gameplay vid of the new Xcom. It looks OK and I'm sure I'll also buy it at some point but it really doesn't look anything like 'proper' X-Com. It inspired me to try V14 as I've tried to hold off until some more bits and bobs were added and for the past two days been getting annoying MCF errors with Desura :grumble:. Anyway, I know it's not Goldhawks problem and I just wanted to say thank you to Chris and the team for making a genuine Xcom sequel. It's strange to me as a 32 year old gamer for ages and ages to be looking forward to a crowd sourced game I part funded more than the "official" sequel to X-com, something I never thought I'd be playing any version of, let alone the possibility of playing a proper isometric one and also a slightly shinier looking "Fisher-Price My First X-Com" game on a console. Strange times... Either way, well done and thanks to you peeps at Goldhawk.
  3. You must be unlucky mate, I travel into central London every morning for work and it's been absolutely dead, less people on my train getting in to Waterloo for before 9am than there normally is and I've got Wimbledon and my line and come from a stop where the bike road race came through. It's been a piece of piss. If you're out East London way though, I imagine it is more a pain. Anyway, it's only for a couple of weeks and it's the Olympics, it's awesome to see so many people enjoying good old London town!
  4. Well my upgrade is having some issues as well but I'm sure Chris and all of GoldHawk are beavering away at it. I don't want to sound like a dick but come on, this is an alpha and we're all effectively testing a game in production, so a little bit of patience and appreciation for Chris and all that they're doing I'm sure would be appreciated. I know people are unlikely to bother to log in here and post positive things (as they'll be busy playing xenonauts, I'm sure) but if you look at it from the point of Goldhawk, it must be disheartening to see all the moaning and lack of gratitude. So the latest build has taken a while to be available but crikey, you wouldn't get this with any sort of normal release so all I'm saying is, well done Chris and all of you guys at GoldHawk, I'm really looking forward to the game but take as long as it needs and to the other forumites, try and see it from their point of view. This whole thread is pretty much nothing but moaning and although to you it may seem simple for Chris to put a file on rapidshare and email everyone a password or whatever, realistically, that's just totally impractical and not only that it's a Saturday, let them have a day off every now and then!
  5. Hello, Loving your work. I've seen a few of the bugs already reported but these two I couldn't see on the known list. I had an Alien 'stuck' (or didn't move anyway) in the UFO, even when I went right up to him round the back door. I also couldn't seem to shoot him for ages using an M16 sodlier, when I finally did with my pistol guy, I got a game freeze. Now that I'm typing this, it might be similar to the CTD on shooting Alien but the shot never actually reached it, game froze with bullet in mid-flight. The other one was trying to get upstairs, I was getting the weird clipping issue with the barriers and in the building (also with squares of what looked like fog of war/ shadow on the stairs and walls where there shouldn't have been either) and made me man stand next to the stairs with his back to them. I then wanted him to go up the stairs, so one square left, one square up then one square right (the equivalent of 1,7 then 9 on the numeric keypad, if that makes it a bit clearer) and it took something like 38 AP, no idea how it happened. I'll try and recreate it too. Other than that, it's looking good and can't wait for further builds / the full game. Keep it up! EDIT: I seem to have registered wrongly so it doesn't say that I'm a backer
