Hi, I recently got a new laptop which has windows 8 installed on it. I just installed this mod but I'm not sure if it worked properly. Is there any way to tell? I went into a ground mission and so far the weapon sounds are the same as the vanilla game. Anyone able to help me out with what I've done wrong?

Did you have to have a premium pre-order to get a custom soldier?

So I downloaded the latest version of xenonauts, and whenever I try to save in game, the save button is blanked out. I tried exiting the game, but it didn't even autosave... is there a bug in this version that means the save was turned off? or is that a deliberate feature of this version...? *Edit* Disregard this, I'm an idiot. I must have accidentally clicked iron man mode, and it did autosave, but I read the date on the left hand side where it said Jun 8th, which was roughly the last time I played, so I thought that was an old save... It's too late, I should go to bed...

I voted for it, because although I won't use it personally, I don't see why it would be gamebreaking to have one. If you don't want to auto-resolve a battle, you don't have to.

I done what you suggested Khall, but I can't change anything... Is there another way to change the male to female ratio?

I tend to think you have a lot of higher ranks running around because the xenonauts are meant to be the best, and the best isn't full of wet behind the ears privates.

Ah OK, I thought there might be better transports added, but I'm new here and not up to date with what's in and out. Also, I've never actually had a terror mission... what are they like?

How about this, keep the Chinook having it's limited range, but be able to research / build better transport vehicles, for example, one may hold less people but be able to go for longer due to the decreased weight. It seems kind of silly that if you have a whole team armed with futuristic armour and weaponry you still fly around in a Chinook.

I have a question, can you have more than 1 chinook in a base? I have a lot of men but all of them can't fit in the one chinook, so they're just sitting around doing nothing. *EDIT* Nevermind, I didn't realise I didn't have an empty hangar, oops.

Ah OK, thanks. It appears I'm not running the demo anyway, as there is a map I haven't seen before; set in a kind of suburban environment. Rather than the demo version's typical electricity converter map. *EDIT* After playing the Alpha game, I can't really see any difference compared to the demo other than that map. Is there a list of the things that are in the game that aren't in the demo? Also, it says that you can get female soldiers now, but I haven't got any in my starting soldiers. And another question, how do I get soldiers promoted? Other than the training thing that privates can do, I've never had someone being promoted from Cpl to Sergeant or Sergeant to whatever comes next. I've had people increase in stats, but nobody actually being promoted.

Sorry for the double post... but is it meant to say that it's the demo version when I start the game up on Desura? Up at the top left it says "Kickstarter Build (V10) - 04 May2012"

Well I just bought the game Should keep me tiding over until the new XCOM comes out, and even then it's always there if I fancy something more like the original XCOM

Thanks for the replies guys, to answer your question, no, I didn't research the laser weapons. I just tried a quick shot before I went away. Also, even though the game is in alpha, how long does the game last? Or does it not end at all currently? Also, the difference in maps seem to be fairly limited with the start having a building with a power converter and another having multiple floors.
